Chapter 359 Will Darian Be Jealous?

"Cecily, are you ready yet?"

"Cecily?"

Not hearing any response from inside, Aurelie grew more anxious.

The door opened.

Seeing Cecily emerge, Aurelie's heart leapt with concern. "How did it go?"

"Aurelie, take a look for me."

Aurelie immediately took the pregnancy test from Cecily's hand and glanced at it.

Cecily was tense, holding her breath, her voice trembling with nerves. "Well? How many lines?"

"Cecily, it's one line. You're not pregnant."

Cecily let out a deep sigh of relief. "That's great."

A hint of surprise flashed across Aurelie's eyes. "You're so happy about not being pregnant?"

Cecily nodded. To her, not having a child right now was a blessing.

"I've been injured and used topical medications, which could affect the fetus. If I were pregnant, I couldn't keep the baby anyway. Besides, in my current state, I can barely take care of myself, let alone a baby."

Aurelie understood Cecily's current struggles and felt a pang of sympathy, giving Cecily a big bear hug.

"It's okay, Cecily. Everything is behind you now. You've finally found your mother, and your relationship with Mr. Fitzgerald has improved. Once your eyes heal, everything will be fine."

Cecily smiled and nodded. "You're right. Everything will get better. How's the company doing lately? I plan to visit the R&D department tomorrow. Even though my eyes are problematic, my nose is still good."

"Oh, come on, just rest and recover. The formulas you left behind before taking the kids abroad are still enough. Besides, Mr. Fitzgerald has sent people to help. You focus on healing. By the way, where's your mom? Didn't she come back with you?"

"The Bennett family has some matters to handle. She'll come over in a few days."

"Then I must be the first to treat her to a meal when she arrives."

Cecily chuckled. "No one's competing with you."

As they were talking, Cecily's phone rang.

"Can you check who it is for me?"

Aurelie picked up the phone and glanced at it. "Isn't this Evander's number?"

Cecily raised an eyebrow. "I just got a new phone and number. How did he... You gave it to him, didn't you?"

Aurelie smiled sheepishly. "He often asks about you. I couldn't just not give it to him."

Aurelie answered the call and handed the phone to Cecily.

Cecily said, "Hello."

Evander breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness. If I couldn't reach you, I was going to call the police. You disappear right after getting what you want."

His words made her sound like a heartless player.

"What do you mean? Speak properly."

"Isn't it true? Before signing the contract, you rushed to the airport to pick me up. After signing, you don't even go to the company. Seeing you is harder than climbing a mountain."

Cecily smirked. "I haven't been at Silver Frost Capital recently. Just got back. Do you need something?"

"I heard you got injured."

"Just a minor injury, nothing serious."

"Miss Watson, there's a gentleman here to see you," a servant announced as she entered.

Cecily said to the servant, "Ask him to wait a moment." Then she said to Evander, "I have something to attend to. If there's nothing urgent, I'll hang up now."

"Wait, I do have something to tell you."

"What is it?"

Evander sighed and said, "My brother, Landon, is getting engaged to Ophelia."

Aurelie, who was eavesdropping, was utterly shocked. "What? That lunatic is actually getting married?"

"What do you mean?" Cecily frowned.

Cecily was not surprised by Landon marrying Ophelia.

Their families were well-matched, and Landon and Ophelia had once had a child together.

Moreover, Ophelia, being the only daughter of the Flores family, would naturally be married off by them since she couldn't be with Darian.

Aurelie said, "You might not know this, but Ophelia seems to have had some kind of breakdown. She's really gone mad, constantly saying someone is trying to kill her."

"She had a breakdown," Cecily thought, recalling how Darian had once kidnapped both Eliza and Ophelia. She hadn't heard much about Ophelia since then. It seemed likely that the trauma was from that night when Darian had frightened her.

"Hey, you two are still chatting. Can you spare a thought for me? I have to call her my sister-in-law now."

Aurelie chuckled, "I feel for you. At least she's not wreaking havoc in the Fitzgerald family but in yours."

Evander snorted coldly, "You two have no sympathy. I've delivered the news, and now I feel sad. I'm hanging up."

Aurelie shook her head, saying, "Who would have thought? Ophelia's luck isn't too bad. At least someone is willing to marry her."

Cecily set the phone aside. "You sound as if no one would marry you."

Aurelie's expression changed, and she seemed to think of something, her eyes darkening, though Cecily couldn't see it.

"Of course, someone would marry me," Aurelie muttered softly, lowering her gaze.

"Ophelia is the eldest daughter of the Flores family. Even if she's crazy or stupid, someone will still marry her. Landon's engagement to her definitely benefits him greatly in terms of family alliances."

At that moment, a bodyguard entered, carrying several gift boxes and a bouquet of flowers.

"Wow, Cecily, someone sent you flowers and gifts. Won't Mr. Fitzgerald be jealous?"

Almost forgetting someone was looking for her, Cecily frowned at Aurelie's words and asked the bodyguard, "Who sent these?"

"A gentleman named Lockwood. He also left a message for you."

Cecily guessed it was either Evander or Landon.

Cecily raised an eyebrow. "What did he say?"

"He said that five years ago, he took revenge on the wrong person and hurt you. He is very sorry for that."

"Five years ago? Are you sure he said five years ago?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"What's the matter, Cecily? Is there a problem?" Aurelie asked, puzzled.

Cecily siad to the bodyguard, "Please let him in," then explained to Aurelie, "I only know that a few months ago, he shot me out of revenge. But he mentioned five years ago."

What else had he done five years ago that she didn't know about?

Landon, who had been about to leave after dropping off the gifts, was surprised to be called back.

Seeing Cecily with medical gauze around her eyes surprised Landon. "It seems reclaiming your identity came at a cost."

Cecily raised her hand slightly. "Have a seat."

Aurelie glanced at her watch, stood up, and said, "You two talk. Cecily, I'm heading to the company. Take care and rest well. I'll visit you again when I have time."

"Alright, take care on the way."

After Aurelie left, only Landon and Cecily remained in the living room.

Cecily wasted no time and asked directly, "You said you were sorry for what happened five years ago. What exactly do you mean?"

Landon sat down on a single sofa, exhaling deeply. He decided not to hide anything anymore. "The hospital where you gave birth back then was funded by the Lockwood Group. Does that make things clear?"
