Chapter 706 Drag Cecily Out for Family Discipline
In Silver Frost Capital, she wouldn't have to work so hard to take care of everything; she could just be herself.
Cecily pursed her lips. She knew what Darian was thinking, but she wasn't willing or at ease to go back without seeing Vivienne.
Cecily leaned into Darian's embrace. "Darian, trust me. I don't want to fight for the family head position or the company. Once we find Vivienne and make sure she's okay, I'll go back to Silver Frost Capital with you. I'll also discuss the company's matters with Vivienne. She's not the type to be obsessed with power and wouldn't force me to fight for the company."
Darian's eyes were filled with complex emotions, but he didn't dare let Cecily notice. He could only hold her tighter and gently agree, "Okay, I promise you."
Cecily leaned against him and closed her eyes, "Darian, thank you."
Recently, Darian had been running back and forth, which was exhausting. She had told him he didn't need to come every day, but he couldn't stop worrying about her.
Darian had already been very accommodating to her.
Darian remained silent, feeling uneasy about hiding secrets and deceiving her. He didn't know how Cecily would react when she found out about Vivienne's situation, only hoping that day would come later rather than sooner.
The next morning.
The entrance of the Bennett Mansion was particularly lively.
Imogen's parents brought Imogen to apologize, and Cecilia's parents also brought Cecilia to apologize.
The incident that had caused such a scene yesterday had already spread overnight. Naturally, Hunter found out about it and, after discussing with Keaen, accompanied Giselle to come over.
Giselle's face still looked unpleasant.
At the entrance, Desmond didn't let them in.
The group looked at Desmond with pleading eyes. Floyd Fairfax said, "Desmond, please go in and tell Ms. Bennett that we brought Imogen to apologize."
"You all should go back. Ms. Bennett probably doesn't want to see you," Desmond said.
Desmond also knew about last night's incident. Someone falsely accused the Bennett family and the Fitzgerald family children of stealing, which was truly ridiculous.
"Desmond, we know Ms. Bennett is still angry, but please give us a chance to apologize." Tessa Hawthorne also pleaded.
"Ms. Bennett doesn't need your apologies. Instead of wasting time here, you should go back and educate your daughter properly," Desmond replied.
Floyd said, "As soon as we found out about this, we severely reprimanded Imogen. We just want to apologize to Ms. Bennett in person. Please give us a chance; otherwise, we won't be at ease."
In the end, it was about not being at ease, fearing repercussions.
Seeing them like this, Desmond sighed. If they knew this would happen, why did you act that way in the first place?
Desmond had heard that they were quite arrogant last night, even involving the police and threatening not to let Cecily off.
"Desmond, we have something to discuss with Cecily. Let us in." Hunter wasn't as polite as the Fairfaxes.
"You still have the nerve to come here? Did you bring Giselle to be punished?" Desmond asked forcefully.
Hunter's face turned ugly. "Let me in to speak to Cecily personally."
"No need. I can punish Giselle according to family rules," Desmond retorted.
Desmond was one of the managers of the Bennett family, overseeing various affairs, and naturally had the authority to punish Giselle.
Giselle's actions in recent days had long warranted punishment.
"Don't think I don't know what Cecily did last night. Ruining Giselle's reputation like that, she should be punished too." Hunter was furious, knowing that Cecily had turned the tables and made Giselle the real 'thief.'
"You really have the nerve to say that. What did Ms. Bennett do wrong?"
"Do you dare say she did nothing wrong?"
"Of course!"
Desmond's righteous attitude infuriated Hunter.
"It's not up to you alone. Call the other two managers out, and we'll judge together," Hunter pressed on.
"My judgment stands even if they have objections. Besides, if we really get into the details, you should know who is more justified."
Hunter snorted coldly, "Everyone knows you're only loyal to Vivienne's family. You're definitely biased towards Cecily in your judgments."
"The facts are clear. There's no bias."
Cecily woke up to the sound of commotion at the front door. Looking downstairs, she saw a group of people gathered at the entrance.
She listened carefully and could even hear Hunter's furious voice.
It seemed that even if she didn't go looking for trouble, trouble would come to her.
Cecily said to a servant, "Go tell Desmond to let them in. It's unsightly to have them crowding the entrance."
Desmond, hearing Cecily's message from the servant, finally allowed the group to enter.
"So lively," Cecily glanced at Desmond.
Desmond nodded. "They're here to apologize."
"Ms. Bennett," Imogen's parents immediately stepped forward, dragging Imogen with them.
Floyd said, "Ms. Bennett, I know all about what happened last night. Imogen was really out of line. We're here to apologize to you." Then he turned to Imogen and sternly scolded, "Why are you still standing there? Get over here!"
Imogen, whether truly scared or pretending, had a face full of tears and swollen eyes, as if she had cried all night.
Imogen was dressed simply today, her hair a bit disheveled. She had been sniffling with her head down since she entered, not daring to look up.
She apologized, "Ms. Bennett, I was wrong. I was talking nonsense last night. Please forgive me this time. I promise I won't dare to do it again."
Facing such unpleasant matters first thing in the morning was quite a mood dampener for Cecily. "I've already heard these words yesterday. No need to repeat it."
Not hearing Cecily say she forgave them, the two families didn't dare to relax.
Tessa said, "Ms. Bennett, as soon as Imogen came back yesterday, Floyd severely reprimanded her. Her face is swollen. I promise she won't do such things again. Please forgive her this time. If you don't, and Floyd continues to punish her harshly, she might really be beaten to death."
"Apologizing is your business. Forgiving is mine. You all seem to be forcing me to forgive., Cecily said coldly.
Cecily understood their intentions clearly—they wanted her to forgive Imogen.
Cecily glanced at Imogen and Cecilia, who did look quite pitiful.
She hadn't planned to hold a grudge against them anyway; they were just pawns used by Giselle.
Although she didn't intend to hold a grudge against the two of them, it was different for Giselle. She couldn't let her off.
"You can go back. I won't hold this matter against you," Cecily said.
Hearing Cecily say this, the six of them were overjoyed and thanked her profusely.
Cecily's gaze shifted to Giselle, who had been glaring at her with hatred. She lifted her chin slightly, "Desmond, does her behavior last night, trying to embarrass me in front of everyone, count as violating family rules?"
Desmond replied, "It certainly does."
"Then punish her according to the rules," Cecily said coldly.
Desmond nodded. "Yes."
"Cecily, how dare you! Who gave you the authority to enforce family rules on Giselle?" Hunter protected Giselle.
"It's clearly written in the family rules. If you have a problem with it, go change the rules."
"Desmond, you see? Cecily is too arrogant. She's been back for just a few days and already thinks she's the head of the Bennett family."
Desmond replied, "Ms. Bennett is merely suggesting. The family rules were set by the previous head. If you don't want to follow them, you'll need the ability to change them."
"We've been bound by these family rules our whole lives," Hunter's eyes reddened with anger.
"Without rules, there would be no Bennett family."
"Fine, in that case, drag Cecily out for punishment too, and we won't have any complaints."
"Ms. Bennett did nothing wrong."
"How is that possible? Giselle is being laughed at by everyone."
"That's Giselle's own fault. You can't blame Ms. Bennett."
