Chapter 67 The Corpse of Mrs. Fitzgerald is Going to Stiffen up

Watching the woman's reckless diving, Darian clicked his tongue in annoyance and frowned, "Is she insane?"

"How could she jump into such cold water without a second thought?"

'That overly chatty woman, is she that important to her?'

Larkin slightly pulled at the corner of his mouth in silence.

'Weren't you the one who lied to her?'

Standing on the deck for a while without seeing Cecily resurface, Darian's brow furrowed even more deeply.

Larkin, standing by, thought for a moment and then asked, "Mr. Fitzgerald, should we send someone to bring Mrs. Fitzgerald up?"

Darian stared intently at the sea, where there was still no sign of the woman.

He let out a cold laugh and said, "If she's not afraid to die and jumps in by herself, drowning is on her."

After a pause, he put out the cigarette he had been holding and added, "Don't worry about it."

Larkin hesitated at these words.

Was he the one who was worried?

Wasn't he just asking because Darian had almost pierced a hole through the sea with his gaze?

Who really was the worried one here?

After a while...

Darian started pacing back and forth on the deck, "How many minutes has it been?"

"Mr. Fitzgerald, it's been almost eight minutes."

Darian's brows knotted even tighter.

'Is this stubborn woman really going to die down there?'

"Mr. Fitzgerald, are you sure we shouldn't retrieve Mrs. Fitzgerald?" Larkin quickly added, "At this rate, Mrs. Fitzgerald's body is going to stiffen up."

Darian's handsome face was a mask of cold sternness, his dark eyes shimmering with unfathomable depth.

"That damn woman."

Darian shrugged off his coat and, without hesitation, leaped over the side.

"Mr. Fitzgerald?"

Larkin quickly bent over the railing, incredulous as he saw Darian leap into the water in search of someone.

He had never seen anything like it.

'So, who exactly was he trying to reassure a moment ago with his comment, 'Don't worry'?'

Larkin's mouth twitched bitterly.

His boss had changed.

Changed to the point he was almost unrecognizable.

As he was about to call for the bodyguards to dive into the water, he heard...

"Cough... cough..."

From the rear of the boat, someone's coughing and spluttering broke the silence.

Larkin's head whipped around, and he rushed toward the back of the boat.

There he saw Cecily, drenched head to toe, somehow having climbed aboard on her own and already having rescued Aurelie from the cabin.

She was now looking at him with an icy gaze.

Larkin met Cecily's cold eyes.

Cecily, chilled by the frigid seawater, seemed even colder now. "Where's that bastard Darian?"

Larkin pointed stiffly toward the sea. "Just went in."

Cecily glanced down at the water and indeed spotted a figure. "To find me?"

"Yes, Mr. Fitzgerald is very worried about you."

"Is he now?" Cecily saw Larkin motioning for people to call Darian back up and raised her hand, revealing a gun she'd found somewhere, "Shut up."

The bodyguards around immediately drew their weapons on Cecily.

"?" Larkin raised his hands while signaling the bodyguards to lower their guns.

Darian cared deeply about Cecily. An accidental discharge that wounded her would be unforgivable.

Larkin lowered his voice, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, we've put our guns down. You should put yours down too. Calm down, don't do anything rash. That thing isn't safe."

Cecily answered coldly, "He likes to leave people to sink. Let him soak a while longer."

Larkin grunted, feeling a cold shiver run through the person in front of him, which made him hesitate to act rashly.

Cecily found a towel and wrapped it around the soaking wet Aurelie, "Just hold on a little longer."

Aurelie couldn't swim, and at this moment, her face was pale with fright as she nodded vigorously.

Larkin took advantage of Cecily's distraction and quickly signaled his bodyguard to get Darian out of the water.

When Cecily looked up, she saw Darian climbing ashore with chills covering his body.

His face was ashen, and his eyes, cold and piercing, fixed on her.

Cecily immediately became alert and raised her gun at him.

The evening sky was overcast and looked especially oppressive.

Darian's sharp gaze remained locked on Cecily. He let out a mocking laugh, "You've got some skill."

He had thought she'd be gone for good in the sea, but surprisingly she managed to climb out on her own and even rescued Aurelie.

'If it weren't for the distance from the shore, could she have swum back?'

"You thinking of shooting me to death?"

"Let me and my friend leave."

Darian looked at her with scorn, "You think that little pistol of yours can threaten me?"

He took a few steps forward.

Bang. A bullet hit the deck right in front of him, nearly striking his body.

Darian paused, and Larkin hurriedly stepped forward as all the surrounding bodyguards raised their guns at Cecily.

Darian's expression was extremely foul as his cold eyes bore into Cecily's. The two held an intense, silent stare-down.

Had her last shot been a little closer, it would have hit him. She definitely hadn't held back.

This merciless woman.

A surge of anger erupted in Darian's heart, detesting the attitude she had towards him.

Darian waved his hand, signaling his bodyguards to lower their guns, then he walked step by step towards Cecily until his chest touched the muzzle of her gun.

The warmth of the recent shot lingered at the barrel, and through the thin layer of his shirt, Darian could feel the temperature of the gun clearly.

Cecily's eyes were sharp, and she applied a bit more pressure on the gun, "Come any closer, and I'll really shoot."

Darian grunted, a sign he had determined she wouldn't dare to pull the trigger. He raised his hand to grab the pistol, "Shoot, do you have the guts?"

Cecily's hand, clutching the gun, trembled visibly with effort.

"Cecily!" Aurelie urgently grabbed Cecily's arm.

She couldn’t shoot.

Shedding blood for such a worthless man was not worth it. Besides, if she really fired the gun, would they not be riddled with bullets?

Cecily's eyes reddened with anger.

Darian sneered at Cecily, his thin lips parted slightly, declaring his victory in this macabre game, "I win. According to our bet, you belong to me now. You should listen to me."

He snatched Cecily's wrist, pulling her into his arms. Whispering coldly into her ear, he demanded, "Cecily, I told you, you can't outplay me. Now tell me, where did you send Rowan?"

"You want to know?"

"Yes."

"Then keep guessing." Cecily pushed Darian away.

Darian let out a cold laugh.

"I'll find out even if you won't tell me. Where do you think you could hide him?"

"Try and see."

Assuming everything went as planned, Rowan would arrive in Dorde by tomorrow morning. With Blaise protecting him there, it would be difficult for Darian to find him.

So, Cecily was at ease.

She hadn't come away from the night empty-handed, at least. She had managed to send the child away.

"Then I'll try." Without hesitation, Darian ordered all of the Fitzgerald family's bodyguards to search for Rowan. They were to find him no matter what. "Just wait for your son to come back and reunite with you."

Cecily clenched her teeth.

Darian observed the woman's complexion, noticing how her drenched clothes clung to her figure, outlining her graceful frame. He glanced at the bodyguards on the deck and his brow furrowed subtly.

He grabbed her arm again, pulling her towards the cabin, but Cecily forcefully shook off Darian's grip. Aurelie quickly reclaimed Cecily.

"Scumbag, where are you trying to take Cecily?"
