Chapter 645 Vivienne is Missing Again

"Aurelie, why don't we head back and wait for Nathaniel? Standing out here might you catch a cold. He'd be worried if he saw you like this." Rowan and Griffin walked up, gently tugging on Aurelie's hand, trying to comfort her.

Even though they were just kids, they knew from Cecily what had happened.

All they could do was be there for Aurelie during these tough times.

Aurelie slowly looked down at Rowan and Griffin, reached out to touch their heads, and forced a faint smile. "Okay."

It had been five days, but the image of Nathaniel's car plunging off the cliff was still fresh in her mind.

Every night, she had the same dream that Nathaniel was right there, but no matter what, she couldn't reach him. She chased after him, but he always walked too fast. The more she chased, the more panicked and desperate she felt, until he vanished without a trace. Where could she find him? She had no idea.

Everyone tried to comfort her, saying Nathaniel would come back.

But it had been five days. Why hadn't he returned yet?

Probably worried Aurelie might do something drastic, Cecily had the nanny keep a close eye on her and had Rowan and Griffin stay with her. Cecily herself would be by Aurelie's side whenever she had a free moment.

The waiting was hard, but things would eventually get better.

Another half month flew by, and Aurelie had become numb. Nathaniel seemed to have vanished, neither alive nor dead.

But as long as she didn't see his body, Aurelie would always believe he was still alive.

Cecily wasn't having an easy time either. Besides her own stuff, she had to be there for Aurelie and worry about her mom far away in Detroit.

One day, Cecily went back to the Bennett family but didn't see Vivienne. She found out Vivienne had gone on vacation and had already set everything up for the Bennett family, delegating some tasks to Desmond and others to Hunter and Keaen.

Even though they sometimes caused trouble, they were reliable when it came to important matters.

However, Cecily was suspicious of Vivienne's vacation. When she called, Vivienne retorted, "Cecily, can't I take a few days off to relax?"

Holding the phone, Cecily said, "Mom, you know that's not what I meant. I'm just worried about you. Why didn't you tell us you were going on vacation?"

"You've been busy lately, so I didn't get a chance to tell you. By the way, have you found Aurelie's boyfriend?" Vivienne changed the subject.

"Not yet," Cecily replied.

They hadn't stopped looking for Nathaniel, but after more than two weeks, there was still no news. Cecily was also worried, seeing Aurelie forcing a smile every day.

Vivienne sighed, "Aurelie's really having a rough time, especially being pregnant and all. Spend as much time with her as you can. I've got something to take care of here, so I'll hang up now."

Before Cecily could say anything, Vivienne quickly hung up.

On her end, Vivienne, after finishing the call with Cecily, couldn't hold on any longer and coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Vivienne seemed used to spitting out the blood. With trembling hands, she picked up a glass of warm water and took a sip. Feeling weak, she closed her eyes and lay down.

She wasn't exactly lying to Cecily. She was indeed on an island, a private island where Bryan had once kept her for over a decade.

Maybe she had gotten used to life here, so she chose to return for her final days.

There was only one villa on this island. She had arranged for two doctors and a few nannies to be here. When she was mad at Bryan, she liked being alone. Getting used to it, she didn't find it boring to sit alone all day, though it did look a bit lonely.

Apart from being her prison, she liked everything else about this villa because Bryan had decorated it just for her. The rustic decor, traditional furnishings, and the small garden outside filled with her favorite flowers and plants, all transplanted by Bryan to please her.

However, she had destroyed that small garden countless times because she felt like one of the plants Bryan had placed there for his amusement. She couldn't remember how many times she had destroyed it. Each time, Bryan would have it restored. Eventually, she got tired, but Bryan didn't, so the garden remained.

Now, she spent a lot of time sleeping. When awake, she would sit outside, looking at the flowers and the sea, living a seemingly pleasant life.

Another reason she chose this place was that no one could find her here, not even Bryan. He probably wouldn't think she would be living here now and might still be searching for her in various cities.

Vivienne lay on the bed as the doctor brought her medication. She had to take these medicines regularly. Even though she hated them, they could prolong her life, so she had to take them.

After taking the medicine, Vivienne slept, but it wasn't a restful sleep. She kept waking up, feeling like she could never sleep enough. Yet, when she did fall asleep, it was never peaceful. She couldn't explain it, maybe she was really close to dying.

She wasn't afraid of death, but she feared that Cecily would be sad after she died. Thinking of Cecily being sad made her feel a bit melancholic.
