Chapter 321 Blaise's Severed Finger, Vincent's Poisoning, How Heartbroken She Must Be
Cecily got out of the car with Vincent, who looked downcast, his eyes lowered, lost in thought. Cecily deftly put the keys into her bag and glanced at him, "What are you thinking about?"
"Sorry to trouble you."
"Don't say that."
He wouldn't have mistaken someone else and gotten poisoned if it weren't for looking for her.
The front door opened, and Cassian quickly came out, politely greeting Cecily. He glanced at Vincent behind Cecily.
Cecily nodded, "Is Elder here?"
"He's here, and Blaise is too. Come in with me, Cecily."
"All right."
As Cassian led Cecily inside, he asked, "Cecily, the person behind you looks unfamiliar. Is he your bodyguard or a friend?"
Cecily glanced at Vincent and replied, "He's my friend."
The foyer door opened, and Cassian made a welcoming gesture. Cecily strode in.
In the living room, Blaise was having coffee with Elder. Hearing the commotion, Blaise looked up at her, "You're here."
"Yes," Cecily nodded slightly, "Elder."
Elder laughed heartily, "Last night, Blaise came to my place and dragged me out of bed. I knew it must be something important involving you; otherwise, nothing could make him so anxious."
Cecily looked at Blaise.
Blaise leaned over to pour Cecily a cup of coffee and said softly to Elder, "Even coffee can't keep you quiet."
"Fine, I'll stop talking. No wonder you're single for life," Elder said meaningfully, with a hint of regret. But Elder wasn't one to meddle much. After a few words, he stopped, "Is this the friend you wanted me to help?"
"Yes, he's been poisoned. I'm not sure if it's the same as last time, but it's by the same person. Please see if there's a way to detoxify him."
Elder stood up and looked at Vincent, "Come with me."
Vincent followed Elder into the room.
Blaise looked at Cecily with interest, "Who is he?"
Cecily sat down beside him and took the coffee he handed her, "He's... my brother, I guess. He lost some memory due to the poisoning. He said he came to protect me but forgot who instructed him."
"Is he sent by your mother?"
Cecily thought so because there was no one else, "Maybe."
Taking a sip of coffee, Cecily glanced at him, "When did you start liking coffee?"
"I drink it with Elder."
Inside, Vincent stood in front of Elder without sitting down. Elder looked at him again.
Vincent said directly, "Thank you for being willing to treat me, but I know my own body. You don't need to waste your efforts. Including today, I only have three days left. Please tell my sister that you have a way to detoxify me, but it requires time, so I need to stay with you."
Elder, "I haven't even checked you yet. How do you know I can't save you?"
"It's useless," Vincent smiled, "I'm not doubting your ability, but this poison is incurable. It can only be suppressed. I don't have time. Even if you want to help me, you can't. So please tell my sister as I said. I'll handle my own affairs and don't want to burden her."
He guessed that Eliza already knew he had found Cecily and would definitely use his poisoning to coerce her into something. Cecily was kind-hearted and wouldn't ignore him. His mission was to protect her, not bring her danger.
Vincent stayed with Elder for over an hour. When he came out, Elder's expression wasn't good. Everything was as Vincent had said; he didn't have much time left. Elder was helpless. They both asked him to hide it from Cecily, but they didn't consider that if he didn't say it now, she would feel even more guilty when she found out later. Blaise's severed finger and Vincent's poisoning would be future pains Cecily couldn't let go of.
Cecily stood up and quickly walked over, "Elder, how is he? Can the poison be cured?"
Elder originally wanted to shake his head, but remembering Vincent's request, he changed his tone, "Yes, it requires time, so he needs to stay with me for a while. Once the poison is completely removed, he can go back."
Elder's words were flawless. Cecily's anxious expression relaxed a bit, "It's good that the poison can be cured. Please take care of him. Let me know if you need anything."
"Don't worry."
Vincent smiled lightly, "Sister, don't worry. I'll come back once the poison is cured."
"Cooperate well with Elder for the detoxification."
"All right," Vincent agreed, his eyes flickering.
Blaise leaned back on the sofa and squinted.
They stayed until noon. Cecily had other matters to attend to, and Elder needed to take Vincent for detoxification. Cecily didn't stay long. Before leaving, Vincent called her "Sister."
Cecily turned back, "What's wrong?"
Vincent smiled, "Nothing. Take care of yourself. I'll come back to find you."
Cecily responded with an "All right."
Cecily went straight to the company. Her phone beeped with a new email. As she sat down and opened her phone, her brows furrowed slightly. It was an anonymous email, and she didn't know who sent it. Cecily opened it and glanced at it. Her pupils immediately contracted, and she got up and walked out quickly.
She returned to Elder's place as fast as she could. Elder was still sitting on the sofa. Seeing Cecily rushing in, Elder asked in confusion, "Why are you back?"
"Elder, where's Vincent?"
Feeling guilty for helping Vincent deceive Cecily, Elder had a flicker of avoidance in his eyes, "He's already gone."
Cecily bit her lip. "Did he ask you to lie to me?"
Elder, feeling even guiltier at her question, didn't answer, which was a tacit admission.
"Did he say where he was going?"
Elder said helplessly, "Without the suppressive medication, he won't live past three days. He must have gone to find the person who poisoned him. He didn't want you to worry, so he left on his own."
In other words, he went to find Eliza!
Cecily suddenly didn't know what to say.
