Chapter 289 Cecily is Angry

The SUV charged forward with a terrifying speed, and at that speed, a collision between the two vehicles would crush them both.

The people in the black car clearly didn't want to die. In a split second, the black car swerved in a different direction, but the next moment, it was hit on the side, causing it to flip over. The windows shattered, and everything inside the car flew out.

It was a scene of chaos.

The front of the SUV was smashed, and it came to a stop. The person inside the car had dark eyes, gleaming with a bloodthirsty light. As he watched the scene, a faint smile tugged at his lips, and he let out a cold laugh.

Cecily's heart was pounding.

She knew who had to be driving the SUV the moment it appeared.

Only one person she knew could be as recklessly brave.

Cecily's face paled, and ignoring the discomfort of her heels, she approached swiftly.

The car window rolled down, and Blaise, with no hint of fear on his face, greeted her with a raised eyebrow. "What a coincidence."

"Do you want to die?" Cecily's voice sounded a bit harsh. The previous scene had indeed frightened her.

It was the first time Blaise had seen her speak to him in such a stern manner. He looked at her serious expression and chuckled softly. "What's there to be afraid of? I had everything under control."

But his assurance seemed ludicrous. If the other party also decided to face the situation head-on, the two cars colliding at such speed would result in equal harm. If the other person died, he would die too!

Blaise truly acted as if he had a death wish.

Cecily was only wearing a thin dress, but she was covered in cold sweat. Taking a deep breath, she saw a police car approaching, probably because someone had called for help.

Blaise raised an eyebrow, showing no intention of leaving. His gaze lingered on Cecily for a moment, and there was a hint of admiration in his eyes.

He didn't stare for long and quickly averted his gaze, smiling faintly. "You go ahead. I'll handle things here."

Cecily looked at him deeply, still feeling unsettled.

He always seemed to treat life as if it were nothing, always taking on the most life-threatening tasks with the most indifferent attitude, yet he always managed to handle things well.

He truly was a reckless and unpredictable person.

Cecily took a deep breath and was about to turn around when she accidentally stepped on a broken part that had fallen from the car just now, causing her high heels to slip and her body to sway to the side.

Blaise's eyes narrowed, and he reached out to push open the car door.

But suddenly, a strong and powerful hand came around Cecily's waist, holding her securely and pulling her back.

Cecily was embraced by the strong arm and found herself in a familiar chest.

Blaise watched, the anxious expression on his face fading away, and he silently retracted his outstretched hand.

Cecily breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the scattered damaged parts on the ground. She raised her head and met Darian's gaze, clearly seeing a lingering sense of shock in his eyes.

Larkin went to check on the people in the black car and hurried back to report, "Boss, that person fainted."

Darian glanced at Blaise and then turned his gaze away, his voice cold. " Make sure he doesn't die."

"I'll have someone take him to the hospital now."

"Hmm," Darian responded, and his gaze fell on Blaise. In a low voice, he said, "Thank you."

Blaise smiled at him. "I didn't do it to save you."

He meant he did not need Darian's thanks.

Darian didn't argue with him. He took off his coat and draped it over Cecily's slender shoulders.

After doing so, he calmly said to Blaise, "You can go now. I'll handle things here."

"No need. Don't you still have a banquet to attend? You guys go ahead. That person just wants to stop you. Don't let her have her way." Blaise lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag, his arm resting on the black window frame.

Cecily's brows furrowed as she thought of something. She looked at Larkin beside her and said, "Larkin, I need a favor."

"Mrs.Watson, please go ahead."

"Could you send someone to my hotel to fetch the silver-white dress from my room?" Cecily's expression was cold, her eyes filled with determination. "I want to change into a different dress."

Cecily had not planned on making a scene, but now that Eliza had made the first move, Cecily couldn't let her have her way. Instead, she would appear in the way that Eliza least wanted.

Cecily was extremely angry at this moment. She was determined to make Eliza pay the price.

She was never someone who would swallow her anger.

Meanwhile, in the hall of the Bennett family, Sandra found Owen Seeing Sandra's troubled expression, he asked, "What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?"

Without second thoughts, Sandra shared the same things with Owen that she had told Darian.

Owen's brow furrowed. "What nonsense are you talking about? Eliza died years ago. The person tonight is the heiress of the Bennett family."

Sandra became anxious when she saw that Owen didn't believe her. She slapped her thigh in frustration. "I'm telling the truth. Once you see her scar, you'll recognize her too."

Owen looked deeply at Sandra. Sandra recognizing Eliza was beyond his expectations. "Who else have you told about this?"

"I told Darian. I asked him to investigate her identity. If we can confirm that she is Eliza, we can follow the trail and maybe find evidence of her harming me that day and bring her to justice."

Sandra silently added in her mind that it could also prove Cecily's innocence.

She didn't notice that Owen's expression had darkened at this moment, unaware of what he was thinking.
