Chapter 690 Who's the Crazy One Here

"Party?" Cecily glanced at the exquisite invitation. "I'm not interested in these kinds of parties. If someone invites me next time, just decline for me."

Cecily disinterestedly placed the invitation back on the table.

Desmond paused for a moment and said, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, I think you should attend some of these parties when you have time. You've been back with the Bennett family for so long, and many people still don't know you."

"I don't care if they know me or not."

"But you are the eldest daughter of the Bennett family. There are some necessary parties you need to attend. You can also treat it as a way to relax," Desmond advised Cecily.

Cecily's gaze fell on the invitation, and after a brief thought, she said, "Alright, I understand what you mean. I'll think about it."

"Okay, I'll head out then." After taking a few steps, Desmond stopped and turned back to Cecily, "By the way, Mrs. Fitzgerald, I heard you discussing your birthday when I came in. How do you plan to celebrate it? I need to make arrangements."

"I haven't decided yet. Just something simple."

"Wait, Cecily," Aurelie suddenly remembered and said, "Vivienne will definitely come back for your birthday. You have to celebrate it."

Cecily hesitated, showing a trace of uncertainty on her face.

Desmond's expression changed slightly, and he lowered his head to hide his reaction.

After a moment of thought, Cecily said to Desmond, "I'll think about it and let you know."

Desmond nodded. "Alright."

Aurelie picked up the invitation on the table and asked, "Are you going to this party?"

Cecily glanced at it, "Either way is fine. Darian has something to do at Silver Frost Capital tonight and will be back late. If we're bored at home, we can go out and take a look, just to relax. But it was brought by Giselle. I always feel she's up to no good."

Then Cecily forced a smile and said nothing more.

As it got darker outside, Cecily didn't care whether to go or not. She played with Rowan and Griffin for a while and forgot about the party.

As night fell, Giselle's car stopped at the door. Giselle, dressed exquisitely, walked in gracefully. Seeing Cecily still in casual clothes, she immediately approached and said, "Cecily, aren't you planning to attend the party?"

Seeing Giselle's attire, Cecily remembered the party and checked the time. "I forgot. I won't go."

"Cecily, didn't Desmond convey my message? As the eldest daughter of the Bennett family, you should meet other families in Detroit. Otherwise, they won't know you."

Cecily smiled calmly, "That's not something you need to worry about."

"I'm doing this for your good. Everyone wants to meet you. This party is specially organized for you. It would be rude not to go." Giselle moved closer to Cecily, speaking loudly as if Cecily couldn't hear her.

"If they want to see my mommy, does she have to go? That's ridiculous," Griffin snorted, pouting.

Giselle bit her lip and continued, "At least they invited you and organized the party to meet you. Not going would be inappropriate. People might think you're too arrogant. Cecily, you represent not just yourself but the entire Bennett family."

"Alright." Cecily realized that Giselle, despite her young age, loved to lecture. Since she had said so much, not going would seem like her fault. "You go ahead. I'll come later."

Seeing that she had convinced Cecily, a cold glint flashed in Giselle's eyes. "I'll wait for you."

"No need. I'm not going with you." Cecily stood up. "Rowan, Griffin, Mommy will take you out for a walk."

Cecily didn't plan to stay long at the party. Rowan and Griffin had been cooped up at home for days, and so had Aurelie. Cecily decided to take them out for a change of scenery.

Giselle said nothing more, as long as Cecily was going.

Cecily called Aurelie to join them, and the servants brought the latest dresses.

They both chose simple dresses and set off with Rowan and Griffin.

Desmond arranged for many bodyguards to ensure their safety.

Seeing this, Giselle got into her car. "Cecily, you go ahead. I need to pick up a friend, so I won't go with you."

"Okay."

In the car, Aurelie said, "Your cousin seems nice."

Giselle seemed to do everything right, speaking kindly. Anyone would think they had a great relationship.

At the hotel, Cecily took out the invitation and handed it to the staff at the door. Just as she was about to enter, the staff stopped her. "Please wait."

Cecily paused. "What's wrong?"

"This invitation is fake. Please show a real one."

Cecily's expression didn't change. "Fake? Are you sure?"

"I'm sure." The staff returned the fake invitation to Cecily.

Aurelie smiled at Cecily. "Looks like Giselle isn't as nice as she seems."

The invitation was given by Giselle. Only she would know why it was fake.

Cecily didn't dwell on it. She wasn't interested in the party anyway.

Hearing it was fake, Rowan and Griffin were excited. Since it was fake, they didn't have to waste time at a boring party. Griffin said, "Mommy, can we leave now and go somewhere fun?"

Rowan added, "Yeah, I don't want to attend this party. Since someone doesn't want us here, let's go."

Cecily sneered and threw the invitation into a nearby trash can.

Giselle was so childish, always playing these tricks. Even the kids could see it was intentional.

"Let's go," Cecily said.

As they were about to leave, they heard mocking laughter nearby. "Someone tried to forge an invitation to sneak into the party. How ridiculous. Hey, which family are you from? Aren't you ashamed?"

"Exactly. Did you think the hotel staff are idiots who wouldn't notice?"

They glanced at Cecily's low-key attire and mocked even more.

"I bet they're from some small family, trying to get into a big party to see the world. They didn't even know the fake invitation would be spotted. Hilarious."

"So embarrassing, getting caught with a fake invitation. It's laughable."

The mocking voices continued, and Griffin frowned. "Who are these idiots?"

"Probably not very bright. Griffin, don't say it out loud," Rowan said seriously.
