Chapter 671 He Doesn't Believe What the Two Liars Said
Larkin shivered and quickly moved out of the way.
Darian just pressed his lips together, staying silent. The guy in front of him was like a statue, frozen in place as if someone hit the pause button on his life.
The guy's lips quivered, like he wanted to say something, but when he opened his mouth, no sound came out.
Bryan was so torn up he couldn't even speak. The conversation between the two kept replaying in his head, over and over.
Time seemed to stop, and that conversation took over his mind, leaving him in a daze, unable to think straight.
His body was stiff, wanting to react, but all he could feel was this deep, aching pain in his heart. His eyes were empty, filled with nothing but confusion.
After what felt like forever, Bryan grabbed Wade by the collar and rasped, "What you said isn't true, right? You're lying. You and Vivienne are lying to me, right? Vivienne just wants to avoid me again, she doesn't want to see me, so you two cooked up this lie, right?"
He had heard the whole conversation inside, but he didn't want to believe it.
No way Vivienne had a terminal illness.
Bryan had Wade pinned against the wall, gripping him so hard he couldn't move.
Seeing Bryan's reaction, Wade knew he had heard everything.
But right now, Bryan was just fooling himself.
Bryan's eyes were bloodshot, and he didn't let go of Wade's collar. "I don't believe you. Where's Vivienne? Tell her to say it to my face."
Bryan shouted, "No, even if she says it herself, I won't believe it. She's a liar, a big liar. Nothing she says can be trusted. I don't believe you two liars."
Bryan knew Vivienne's temper; she hated him, so she often lied to him, always trying to leave him.
This time was no different; the terminal illness was just another excuse she made up.
Vivienne had lied countless times to leave him before, and this time was definitely a lie too!
He kept telling himself that.
Wade frowned deeply, glaring at Bryan with anger.
Wade shoved Bryan's hand away. "Bryan, you know I'm telling the truth. What's the point of lying to yourself? Wasn't it you who made Vivienne like this?"
Wade went on, "If you hadn't forced her, hadn't selfishly kept her by your side, would she have gotten depressed, starved herself, self-harmed, tried to kill herself? Would her body have fallen apart like this? Bryan, everything Vivienne is going through now is because of you. You did this, do you get it? If she dies, it's on you, do you understand?"
Wade's words hit Bryan like a ton of bricks.
Bryan shook his head, tears stinging his eyes.
He still didn't want to believe it.
Bryan shouted, "Bring Vivienne out, let her come out to see me!"
"You can't see her." Wade's voice was cold and unfeeling. "She doesn't want to see you either."
Wade tried to walk away, but Bryan grabbed him. "Did I say you could leave? Answer me! You know where Vivienne is. I want to see her. Tell me where she is!"
Bryan was losing it, shouting in a frenzy.
He needed to see Vivienne to ask her himself.
"Let go of me!" Wade shoved Bryan away. "If I had her medical report right now, I'd throw it in your face so you could see what shape she's in. Why did she leave, why doesn't she want to see Cecily? Because she's scared Cecily will find out."
Wade went on, "Why is she hiding and not seeing anyone? Because her body is falling apart. You know how strong-willed she is; she doesn't want anyone to see her like this. Bryan, if my words can't convince you and you still choose to lie to yourself, there's nothing more I can do. Keep living in your denial, but when she's on her deathbed, it'll be too late for regrets."
Wade's words were brutal, but he didn't care if they hurt Bryan. It was better that he felt the pain because Vivienne's suffering was all his fault.
Bryan's face went pale, and Wade's words cut through him like knives.
His whole body seemed to collapse, and he tried to steady himself on a nearby table, his hand pressing on a sharp corner, causing a stabbing pain, but he couldn't feel it. He used all his strength to hold on.
His bent body trembled slightly.
He had been chasing her for half his life, and they knew each other better than anyone. So he had long sensed that Vivienne was hiding something from him.
He just didn't want to face it.
His heart was filled with pain.
The air was thick with tension and gloom, and he finally broke down, tears and snot streaming down his face, repeatedly saying he was sorry.
He was sorry to Vivienne; it was he who had driven her to this point. He knew her stubborn and strong-willed nature, yet he still selfishly kept her by his side.
He was the one who made her sick, and he should be the one to die.
Darian stood silently at the doorway, watching the two men inside as they yelled, broke down, and pushed each other. His eyes were filled with mixed emotions.
Seeing Bryan's reaction to the news, his plan to tell Cecily wavered. He was afraid Cecily would be as devastated as Bryan.
With endless hesitation in his eyes, Darian turned and left.
