Chapter 275 Everyone is Planning to Attend the Banquet.
"Wait." Cecily tensed up. "The person in that video is not me. Someone has undergone plastic surgery to look like me."
Elijah narrowed his eyes, a mocking smirk playing on his lips. "Do you even believe what you're saying?"
"I'm not lying to you. In two days, at the Bennett family's banquet, there will be someone identical to me. You can send someone to verify it now," Cecily continued quickly.
"Think about it. In such a short time, I wouldn't be able to come up with such a story to deceive you," Cecily reasoned.
The man's gaze darkened as he stared at Cecily's face, trying to discern if she was telling the truth.
"If you kill me now, do you think you'll get away? Firstly, Darian won't let you off. It's better to clarify things first. Otherwise, you might be killing an innocent person. You'll only end up with regrets and let the real culprit go free," Cecily spoke calmly, trying to steady herself.
She didn't know if he believed her, but she noticed a flicker in his eyes, and the murderous intent gradually faded.
He slightly retracted his blade.
Cecily took a deep breath.
But then the knife was back at her neck.
A shiver ran down Cecily's spine.
"If you dare to deceive me, I can find you anytime, anywhere. Even hiding with the Fitzgerald family won't help," he warned.
Cecily forced a smile. "Alright."
As Elijah left, the two children were also visibly shaken.
Cecily calmed herself and pulled the two kids closer, asking with concern, "Are you two scared?"
Rowan and Griffin shook their heads. "We're fine. Mommy, your neck is hurt."
Cecily gently touched her neck. The sharp blade had left a shallow red mark with a bit of blood oozing out.
"I'm fine. Let's go." Cecily didn't dare to linger here with the children, immediately heading upstairs.
In Sandra's ward, Sandra's mood immediately brightened seeing her grandsons. "Rowan , Griffin, you're here. Come here."
The two children obediently walked over, but they weren't particularly close to Sandra.
Sandra understood that she had been too much before, which made the children reluctant to get close to her.
Looking at the two children, she felt not only guilty but also a strong desire to make amends.
"How is your injury, Grandma?" Griffin asked with concern.
Sandra felt warm in her heart and nodded with a smile. "Having you here makes all my pains go away."
"Cecily, what happened to your neck?" Sandra suddenly noticed a red mark on Cecily's neck and furrowed her brow. "You're bleeding."
"Just a minor injury. I met someone when I came up earlier, and there was a misunderstanding because of what had happened with Ophelia before. But luckily, it was nothing serious." Cecily casually brushed it off.
Sandra could tell that it was a knife wound, far from being as easygoing as Cecily described. "Is there any unresolved issue between you and Ophelia?"
Cecily's brow furrowed as she said, "It's about the incident related to the child five years ago."
Sandra sighed deeply.
She found herself particularly troubled when thinking about the past, especially concerning the child.
Many conflicts arose due to these misunderstandings, and many things could have been avoided!
Looking back now, she still felt a sense of fear.
"Cecily, I want you to tell me the truth. Was Ophelia's child really unrelated to you back then?"
Cecily didn't evade Sandra's gaze. "It had nothing to do with me. Just like this current situation, it was the work of the person who underwent surgery to look like me."
A hint of fear flashed across Sandra's face. "She did something like that five years ago?"
"Yes."
"It's terrifying. Such a person has been around us for five years." Sandra frowned in concern, pondering for a moment. She then looked at Cecily and asked, "Do you know about the Bennett family's banquet in two days?"
Cecily nodded. "I do."
"I plan to attend this banquet. I want to see for myself who this troublemaker is. You should also go. How can you let an impostor take your place?" Sandra said indignantly.
"I do intend to go, but..." Cecily hesitated.
Sandra waved her hand. "Don't worry about me. I'm in a wheelchair anyway. I can handle it."
Sandra really wanted to meet the person who had caused so much chaos in the Fitzgerald family.
This person had repeatedly brought them trouble, and it was simply outrageous.
As they were talking, the door was pushed open.
Darian appeared at the doorway, dressed in a dark coat.
"Daddy," the two children called out to Darian.
Darian nodded.
Cecily turned around, and her gaze met Darian's.
Sandra raised an eyebrow. "Why are you here?"
Darian tilted his chin. "I'm here to pick them up."
With that, Darian's gaze fell on the red mark on Cecily's neck. His expression gradually turned cold, and he walked directly towards Cecily, furrowing his brow. "How did you get hurt?"
As his tall figure approached, Cecily lowered her eyes. Darian seemed too worried; it was just a scratch after all.
"I accidentally got a cut. It's nothing," Cecily replied.
Darian keenly sensed something. "Did something happen to you?"
Cecily took a deep breath and nodded. "I encountered Elijah."
Darian's eyes turned completely cold. "He hasn't learned his lesson."
A glint appeared in Cecily's eyes. "I told him about the person who had surgery to look like me. Elijah's a smart person. He'll check it out and won't keep targeting me."
Darian glanced at her indifferent face and pressed his lips together. "I shouldn't have let him go last time."
"He is not the mastermind. It's the person who underwent plastic surgery; she deceived everyone."
At this moment, Ophelia's hospital room was pitch black.
Ophelia huddled in the corner, holding herself tightly. Her face was buried between her knees, her body trembling slightly. Her disheveled appearance made her look almost insane.
Elijah stood beside her, his voice icy and piercing. "Cecily said that what happened back then was not her doing; it was another woman who underwent plastic surgery to look like her framed her."
Ophelia heard Cecily's name, and finally, a slight ripple appeared in her lifeless eyes.
She suddenly looked up. "Do you believe such absurd words?"
"It happened suddenly. She didn't have time to fabricate a story with specific time and place," Elijah said, lighting a cigarette by the window.
"She said the Bennett family is having a banquet in two days to introduce the heiress. It's true."
Ophelia's eyes flickered. She got up from the ground and rushed to Elijah. "What does it have to do with me? My enemy is Cecily. It's Cecily!"
Ophelia roared at Elijah, "How can you be so useless and easily believe her words? You're too naive."
Elijah closed his eyes and gripped Ophelia's chin. "Let me ask you. What if such a person really exists? What will you do?"
Ophelia glared at Elijah, slapped his hand away, and shouted, "My enemy will always be Cecily. I just want her dead."
Elijah sneered and snuffed out his cigarette. "Well, I'm sorry, but all I want is to find the culprit who harmed my child. Whoever did it, I will find them. Your grievances with Cecily have nothing to do with me."
Ophelia looked at the indifferent and ruthless man. "It seems that you really believe Cecily's words!"
"Alright, then let's wait and see. Let's see if this person she mentioned really exists. The banquet is in two days, right? Both the Stonefield and Flore families have received invitations. Let's go together and find out if it's true or not."
