Chapter385 Taken by Force

Darian's eyes flickered, a hint of amusement passing through them.

Cecily truly was a clever woman.

When Cecily looked up at him, she found Darian gazing at her with a smile.

She blinked and met his gaze without flinching. "Why are you looking at me like that? Do you think I'm too wicked? Or do you think I'm meddling too much?"

"He's foolish, but he'll figure it out eventually. Aren't you afraid of retaliation?" asked Darian.

Cecily propped her chin on her hand and looked at him. "Will you give him the chance to retaliate against me?"

Darian's lips curved slightly, and he said simply, "Take care of yourself."

Cecily understood and nodded.

Her phone rang in the quiet office.

She picked it up and glanced at it. It was Bryan again.

He was so persistent.

Cecily didn't answer the call. "I have something to attend to, so I'll be leaving now. I won't disturb you any longer."

Cecily had originally come to verify her suspicions, but in the end, she had guessed wrong.

He hadn't remembered her at all.

The next moment, her palm was held, and Darian stood up. "It's mealtime. Let's go eat."

Cecily raised an eyebrow. "Just the two of us?"

"Is that a problem?"

Cecily lowered her gaze to her hand, which was held by him, and smiled softly. "What do I mean to you now?"

Darian seemed to be in a good mood. "A stranger who almost made me a pauper."

Cecily repeated his words, then smiled brightly, like a cunning fox, and hooked her arm around his neck. "What? Do you regret the decision you made back then?"

Darian didn't push her away; instead, he supported her waist.

Her waist was slender and soft, with a faint, cold fragrance that made Darian want to get closer. "Since I gave it to you, there's no such thing as regret."

Cecily smiled. "Anyway, even if you regret it, you can't take it back."

Darian asked, "Do you know what Owen often says to me?"

"What?" Cecily was puzzled.

"Women are a man's weakness; you can't be infatuated. How infatuated do you think I was with you back then?"

Cecily smiled silently. "Maybe you'll only know when you remember someday."

Darian chuckled, looking at her crimson lips. He always had an urge to kiss them.

Seeing the deepening look in Darian's eyes, Cecily tightened her grip around his neck. Darian leaned forward, and Cecily's lips lightly brushed against his.

Just as she was about to pull away, he pressed down, deepening the kiss.

His mind had forgotten her, but his body remembered. Every time he saw her, he couldn't help but want to be close to her, hold her, and kiss her.

He had never felt this strange sensation with any other woman, only with her.

"Mr. Darian..." The door was open, and a call came in. Larkin walked in directly.

Cecily seemed to be triggered by some switch, springing away abruptly, her face instantly flushing as if it were on fire.

"What did you just say?" She tried to act nonchalant. "Do I want to eat with me? I'm not eating; I'm leaving now."

With that, she grabbed her bag and quickly left.

Cecily in Darian’s arms ran off like a rabbit, and Darian looked up to stare at Larkin.

Larkin, standing by the wall, instantly felt a cold gaze fall upon him, making him shiver unexpectedly.

"What is it? Speak," Darian ordered.

"Owen called." Darian glanced at the phone in his hand, took it, and said, "Get out."

"Yes." Larkin felt a chill all over and wished he could disappear immediately.

With Cecily there, he had forgotten to knock. ‘Damn, I was truly careless.’

"Go downstairs, find a room, and practice knocking a thousand times." Darian's voice sounded.

"What?" Larkin hadn't reacted yet.

"Record a video. I need to review it."

"What?" Larkin asked again.

In response to Larkin, Darian turned his back with a heavy dose of resentment.

A thousand times knocking?

The door would probably have holes in it by then.

Cecily drove home, and just as she turned into the driveway, a car suddenly braked sharply beside her. A black Bentley blocked her path.

She frowned slightly and slowly rolled down her window.

The person in the black Bentley quickly got out and walked towards her. "Miss Watson, our boss requests your presence. Please come with us."

She looked at him coldly. "Bryan's people?"

Although she had only met him once in Detroit, Cecily remembered him.

He was Bryan's trusted aide, Sam Collins.

Sam was still respectful towards her. "You still remember me."

Cecily propped her arm on the window frame, her gaze lingering on him. "What if I refuse?"

Sam said, "Then don't blame us for using force, Miss Watson."

Cecily smiled calmly. "This is the Fitzgerald family's doorstep. You think you can use force here? That's quite presumptuous, isn't it, Gary?"

Sensing something, Sam turned around just as a gust of wind passed by. He was unexpectedly pinned to the ground by someone who had appeared behind him.

Gary smiled wickedly. "Indeed."

Sam ate a mouthful of dirt and tried to stand up, but he was held down firmly, unable to muster any strength.

He could only shout to Cecily, "Miss Watson, Mr. Whitaker just wants to talk and resolve the issues. He means no harm. If you keep this attitude, it won't be me coming next time."

Cecily laughed mockingly. "He cares so much about that mother and daughter. What does my mother mean to him?" She couldn't help but feel a chill for her mother.

Sam said, "Mrs. Murphy is Mr. Whitaker's savior. Mrs. Cruz respects Mr. Whitaker and always calls him 'father.' They have a good relationship. Miss Watson, if you and your mother could go along with the boss a bit more, there wouldn't be so many conflicts."

A glint of ice flashed in Cecily's beautiful eyes as she looked at him sideways. "Are you saying we should swallow our pride?"
