Chapter 116 Your Husband, I Am Really Leaving

"Shall we leave together in the afternoon, Chloe?" Ellie said after work.

"No need. I'm going back to the dorm. It's nearby, and I have more work to do," Chloe declined, afraid of a repeat of last time.

"Okay then. I'll go first," Ellie said.

"Goodbye."

Ellie went downstairs and saw Brayden waiting for her in the company lobby.

"Mr. Perez, let's go to the bookstore," Ellie said, "I'm really sorry to inconvenience you and make you accompany me to the bookstore."

"It's alright. Whenever you have any issues regarding becoming a certified public accountant, feel free to come to me," Brayden replied to Ellie with some indifference.

His eyes wandered through the people walking out of the corporate lobby, but he never saw the person he was looking for.

When Donovan left, he saw Brayden's figure and wondered, 'Why is he here?'

Ellie was just an ordinary employee whom Donovan didn't know very well except for hearing Chloe mention her name several times. The recent hiring in the finance department hadn't caught his attention, so he had no idea who was joining Brayden.

Donovan called Chloe, "Where are you?"

"I'm in the office, still have some work to finish."

"Aren't you going to accompany me?" Donovan felt relieved knowing that Brayden hadn't seen Chloe.

"I'm busy."

"Your husband, I am really leaving." Donovan teased Chloe again.

"Go ahead. Goodbye." Chloe hung up the phone without any sentiment.

It seemed Chloe didn't know Brayden was coming to the company, and Donovan himself didn't understand why Brayden was coming.

In Brayden's car.

"Mr. Perez, where are we going?" Ellie asked. This was her first successful date with Brayden.

She originally wanted Chloe to see, but Chloe declined.

She had tried to go out with Brayden several times before, but it never worked out. That's why Ellie took a leap of faith and applied to New East Group. She knew she might be mocked, but Brayden really liked Chloe, who worked in the finance department. Perhaps, Brayden might come looking for her because of this reason.

Sure enough, Brayden came, though his gaze was constantly searching for Chloe.

"Go to Heaven Street Bookstore," Brayden said.

"Okay," Ellie nodded solemnly.

Heaven Street Bookstore.

There were no more books on financial cost management.

Fortunately, the store owner had a good relationship with Brayden, since he had done a book signing there before.

They promised to send the book to Brayden when it arrived.

"When they send the book to me, how about I give the book to you?" Brayden asked Ellie.

"Sure, thank you, Brayden." Ellie's eyes sparkled. She no longer called him "Mr. Perez" but addressed him as "Brayden." She thought to herself, 'delivering books was a good excuse for another date.'

"No need to thank me," Brayden said thoughtfully.

The two of them also had dinner together before Brayden dropped Ellie off at home.

The next day, Brayden went on a business trip. There was a training session in another city where he needed to give a lecture. It would probably last for a week.

Around the third day, the book arrived.

Brayden was not in Maple Valley, so he sent his driver Jacob to deliver it to Ellie.

At 5 pm, Jacob waited at the entrance of New East Group, smoking a cigarette while waiting for Ellie.

Brayden gave him Ellie's WhatsApp, and they had been in contact before.

However, Ellie didn't show up, and Jacob ended up seeing Donovan instead.

Real enemies met on a narrow road.

Donovan was wearing a tie that Chloe probably bought for him. Whether it was real or not, it didn't matter.

"Where's my sister?" Jacob asked Donovan.

There was already a loss of respect between them, and even their greetings had become somewhat hostile.

Upon seeing Jacob, Donovan walked over and frowned at him. "What are you doing at New East Group?" he asked.

Jacob stared at Donovan's tie and then laughed. "Mr. Perez and Chloe have good taste. They both picked out this tie for you, and it looks great on you. Chloe is really thoughtful, knowing to consult Mr. Perez for opinions."

Donovan furrowed his brow slightly and replied, "Well, thank Mr. Perez for me."

After that, Donovan went to the parking lot.

Jacob was glad to see him leaving.

Although Donovan had a blank expression earlier and even a slight smirk, Jacob had already seen the anger in his eyes.

Great.

It was good for Donovan to break up with Chloe.

Jacob wanted to take advantage of the situation and completely separate the two of them.
