Chapter 645 Their Relationship Improved
There was no way they could make it back to Maple Valley tonight, so the three of them decided to crash in Pearl Peak City.
"You guys head back to the old house. I'll grab a room at a hotel. But Donovan, there's something I need to talk to you about. Let's chat tomorrow," Abigail said, sounding a bit cautious.
Donovan had come to Pearl Peak City under the radar this time, not wanting Timothy to bug him again. After all, the whole mess with James's murder at the Rebecca Building was aimed at Donovan, and Timothy got caught in the crossfire. So, he wasn't in the mood to deal with Timothy.
It felt like forever since the two of them had stayed at the old house in Pearl Peak City.
The place hadn't changed a bit, and Chloe felt like she was stepping back in time.
She took a shower but didn't bother drying her hair. Back then, she thought it was just a phase, but it turned into a lifelong mess. Honestly, besides being good-looking and loaded, Donovan had his fair share of flaws. He was suspicious, jealous, and even hurt Chloe's family. But when he did that, Chloe had been abroad for a while. Later, when Donovan showed up, Chloe fell for him. It was her own doing, so she figured this was just how life would be.
Chloe lay down while Donovan was still reading.
Surprisingly, Donovan didn't seem interested in sex tonight, probably worn out from driving all day.
Getting old and can't keep up? Chloe wondered, staring at Donovan.
Donovan turned to her and asked, "Do you want to?"
Chloe didn't respond and just closed her eyes.
Donovan's kiss suddenly landed on her lips and cheeks.
"Chloe," Donovan said.
Donovan wasn't one to show his feelings much. This "Chloe" came from deep within, making Chloe feel a warm, unbreakable emotion in her throat. Any complaints she had about him vanished in that moment.
Every time Chloe wanted to be mad at him, he always had a way of pulling her back, making her feel like she wasn't strong-willed at all.
"Mm." Chloe's response was full of contentment.
"No matter how I treat others, I'll always treat you well," Donovan said, turning off the light and pressing down on Chloe.
Tears instantly welled up in Chloe's eyes, soaking the pillow.
Such words were rare from Donovan, making them even more precious.
Donovan kissed Chloe's face, tasting the saltiness of her tears. He kissed them all away.
"Do I not say enough sweet things?" Donovan asked.
Chloe turned her face slightly and wiped away her tears.
Their connection that night was deep and enchanting, a true union of soul and body.
So much so that when they woke up the next day, it was almost eleven.
Chloe's face was softer than ever, and she was smiling.
There wasn't much to do today, just picking up Abigail from the hotel and heading back to Maple Valley.
When they got to the hotel, Abigail got in the car and started complaining.
"I thought you guys were coming to get me early. I was worried you'd show up before I was awake, which would be awkward. But you show up now? I should've known. Married couple stuff," Abigail said, pointing at her watch.
Chloe smiled at Donovan, and they shared a knowing look.
It seemed like their relationship had gotten even better since last night.
