Chapter 41 Heartthrob

It was 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Logan drove his Audi to pick up Sofia and Chloe from their building. The factory was located in the Economic Development Zone, which was filled with factories and sparsely populated. They arrived at one in the afternoon.

James, a warm and enthusiastic worker at the factory, received them and gave them a tour of the workshop, explaining the processors in detail.

"Can you ship to Elmrest Springs?" Chloe inquired.

"Absolutely. The factory has a comprehensive logistics system, so rest easy, Chloe," he assured her. Chloe nodded in acknowledgment.

Unknown to Chloe, Donovan was seated in the manager's office, watching the factory's surveillance footage. As the trio entered the premises, Donovan saw them immediately. Noting Logan at Chloe's side, Donovan thought that Chloe truly was irresistible, always surrounded by different men at any given moment. She had just finished with the training class, and now she seemed to have linked up with Logan.

"What's the price for, say, two hundred units?" Chloe, impressed with the quality of the computers and the developed logistics, wanted to place an order as soon as possible.

Logan, who was experienced in the gaming company business and knowledgeable about computers, also agreed that they were decent.

James furrowed his brow slightly, "As for the price, I can't decide that. It would have to be our CEO who does."

"David Thomas?" Chloe recalled the person who had answered the phone the other day.

"Oh, not him. Our company was acquired. We're doing contract manufacturing for our parent company's boss. Let me give him a call," James said and stepped aside to make the call.

Meanwhile, Chloe discussed the potential price with Logan.

"If you're making a bulk purchase, maybe try to get it down to one thousand five hundred per unit," Logan suggested, displaying his expertise in the area.

Chloe nodded thoughtfully, grateful that Sofia had invited Logan to the meeting.

Just then, Logan received a text on WhatsApp from "Big Brother," which read, [Don't acknowledge knowing me when we meet later.]

Logan frowned, puzzled by the message.
Donovan was the big brother, a moniker Logan had saved on his phone after a dramatic turn of events three years ago. At that time, Logan had launched a gaming company that sadly floundered right out of the gate, teetering on the brink of collapse. With no other options, he found himself applying for a job as a driver for Donovan at New East Group.

During the interview, after hearing about Logan's past, Donovan had a different idea. "Forget driving," he said, "you need to get back up where you fell down."

Thanks to a two-million-dollar investment from Donovan, Logan's company made a phoenix-like comeback.

Logan was overflowing with gratitude towards Donovan, even nicknaming him "Big Brother" in his WhatsApp contacts. He sent holiday greetings to Donovan via WhatsApp, yet Donovan never replied. Still, Logan believed in repaying kindness with gratitude.

If Donovan said to act like strangers, then that's exactly what Logan would do.

Yet the word "later" puzzled Logan. 'Could Donovan actually be at this company now?' Logan pondered.

"Our boss has arrived," James announced, turning to Chloe, "For the pricing matter, you'll discuss it with him."

The workshop was extensive, and at this moment, Chloe and her team were standing at its far end.

Chloe looked up and shivered involuntarily. 'How could it be Donovan?' Chloe thought.

Donovan was walking slowly toward her.

A wave of emotions crashed over Chloe as she quickly calculated the odds. A small factory like this wasn't the usual venue for a mogul like Donovan to show up in person, let alone negotiate prices with someone like her.

'Wasn't this situation a bit too odd? Could he already be onto something?' Chloe thought.

Chloe tried to find a photo of Donovan on her phone but couldn't find any in her album.

Sofia tugged at Chloe's sleeve, whispering, "What do we do? Mr. Blake, huh? If he finds out you came here for your first love, who knows how he'll explode?"

"Calm down," Chloe instructed, downloading a picture of Donovan from the internet and sending it to Zoey Sanders.

[Zoey Sanders, is this the David Thomas you met that day?] she texted.

Chloe's first instinct was that Donovan must have come prepared. Otherwise, he would never have spent his weekend waiting at a small factory like this one.
