Chapter 381 Looking for His Photos

Cynthia chuckled. "Why dig up old teenage memories?"

"He was so perfect in high school—never made mistakes, never checked out other girls, came from a good family. Who wouldn't have a crush on him? I sure did," Cynthia said, smiling.

"Perfect?" Chloe frowned.

"Isn't he?" Cynthia raised an eyebrow.

Chloe snorted. "Bad temper, total male chauvinist, stubborn, terrible in bed, and an absolute nightmare to deal with."

Realizing she said too much, Chloe stopped.

Cynthia smiled. "To me, he was an untouchable idol. But for you, he was real. Why'd you divorce him?"

"We've been divorced for ages, never remarried!" Chloe said.

Cynthia patted Chloe's hand.

Chloe went silent, thinking Cynthia might refuse her request for a photo due to privacy.

She bit her lip. "You probably don't know, but he didn't want me to go abroad. He said I'd never come back home or see Francis again. I just want a photo of Francis."

Chloe started crying. "He won't give me one. He said I had to trade a photo of him for ten of Francis. But I couldn't find a single photo of him. I miss Francis so much."

Chloe couldn't speak anymore, feeling like the most miserable mother.

"You want a photo from me?" Cynthia asked gently. "Because I said I had a photo of the person I loved most in my lost wallet, and you thought it was him, right?"

"Isn't it him?" Chloe looked up, surprised.

"No," Cynthia shook her head and showed Chloe a photo.

It wasn't Donovan. It was a young man in a suit, looking refined and handsome.

Chloe was puzzled. "It's not him? You don't have a photo of Donovan either?"

Cynthia shook her head. "I don't know why I was so obsessed back then. For years, he was my obsession. I studied hard just to keep up with him. But then I met my husband. He came from a good family but chose to teach in a remote area. His noble qualities moved me. We got married three months after meeting. People change, feelings change, obsessions change. I became a teacher because of my husband. He once said, 'Teaching and nurturing people' is his life's wish."

Cynthia gazed at the windowsill with a contented smile.

Chloe knew a good relationship brings a smile, showing it was right.

She felt relieved but also a bit of despair. Relieved that Cynthia no longer loved Donovan, but despairing because she still had no photo of Francis.

"I had a boyfriend who taught in a remote area too. Did you know that?" Chloe asked.

With the sensitive topic gone and Cynthia's gentle nature, Chloe felt like sharing.

"Really? How did you break up?" Cynthia asked.

"He died saving a child from drowning," Chloe said.
