Chapter 316 What Did You Change It To?
The next day, at Donovan's office, Donovan asked Sofia, "Did you tell Chloe about her grandmother?".
Sofia felt an acute sense of nervousness each time she stepped into Donovan's office, which intensified upon meeting him.
She had agreed to let Donovan handle Logan's birthday, a private moment she wanted to spend with Logan. But that didn't mean she wasn't scared of Donovan at work.
In fact, she was terrified.
"Yes."
"Don't tell her such things anymore. If something goes wrong, who will be responsible?" Donovan's tone was sharp, making Sofia feel like she had messed up.
Donovan was actually pretty gentle with her.
"I got it," Sofia replied.
"Also, don't tell her about the PR stuff for tomorrow. The drafts you write for the press, keep them away from her," Donovan said seriously.
"What stuff?" Sofia was confused.
"Your director will fill you in. Go now."
Sofia left, still puzzled by what he meant.
Later, Evans from PR sent Donovan the event schedule. After reviewing it, Donovan found no issues.
In the afternoon, Sofia finally understood. Paisley was attending a donation ceremony at Elmrest Springs Elementary.
She was donating $2.5 million to build a new school, and the money was from New East Group.
As part of the PR team, Sofia had to promote it, and her drafts would go to the press.
Paisley was making a comeback, and charity work was a great way to win public favor.
Barbara was a nobody, while Paisley had been in the industry for years. In addition, Paisley's issues didn't involve anything illegal; the tax authorities found no evasion. If managed well, she could bounce back quickly and regain popularity. After all, who could hate a kind-hearted celebrity?
Sofia was furious. Paisley didn't even know where Love Heart Elementary School was. It was the place where Chloe had once donated computers, and now it was being used by Donovan to boost Paisley's image.
'Maybe Donovan couldn't find a better place on short notice, so he chose this one.
'But why is he doing this? Handling all this for Paisley while Chloe is pregnant?
'Paisley is the one who caused Grandma Morgan's death,' Sofia thought.
Sofia wanted to tell Chloe right then, but Donovan's warning held her back.
With news spreading so fast these days, and Paisley's donation being for the media, it would definitely make headlines.
There was no way to hide it from Chloe.
The next day, Donovan didn't go to work.
When Chloe woke up and saw Donovan still sleeping, she was surprised.
She lay there watching him. Chloe had to admit that Donovan looked really handsome even while asleep. It was hard to look away.
"You're awake?" Donovan opened his eyes and spoke to Chloe.
"Have you been up for a while?" Chloe asked, noticing he didn't seem like he had just woken up. "Why didn't you go to work today? It's not Saturday."
"I wanted to spend the day with you." He pinched Chloe's cheek. "I had Charles and Victoria gather the materials for NexInnovate Technologies for you. You can work on it at home today."
He lay there, looking at Chloe who was kneeling beside him.
Chloe smiled. "Alright."
Donovan got up.
"Did you change my contact name?" he asked while putting on his shirt.
"No." Chloe thought he would definitely be angry if he found out what she had changed his contact name to..
"What did you change it to? Let me see." Donovan reached out his hand, asking for Chloe's phone.
Feeling guilty, Chloe quickly grabbed her phone and changed "Teddy" to "Honey" before handing it to him.
Donovan had already seen her changing it.
"You haven't changed it for me yet?" he asked.
"I did."
"What did you change it to? Teddy?"
Chloe looked up at him in surprise, as if to say, "How did you know?"
Donovan had just said it casually, but he didn't expect that she had really changed his contact name to "Teddy".
He got up and smiled mischievously. "At least I'm a male dog. What about you? Female Teddy? Little female dog?"
"You're the female dog," Chloe instinctively retorted.
Donovan was already sitting up on the bed. He lifted Chloe's chin with one hand and said, "Female dogs can't have twins with other female dogs, unless one is male and the other is female. Silly."
"I'm not talking to you anymore." With that, Chloe walked away.
Her phone was still in Donovan's hand.
