Chapter 321 You Guys Don't Understand
Chloe picked up the documents and looked through them.
After reading, she let out a cold laugh. It was pretty much what Donovan had told her before.
However, the routes Donovan had designated for Paisley were all ones that would gain public favor. She used the charity to win fans.
Chloe sat on the bed, sorting through the children's clothes, without saying a word.
"What's wrong?" Donovan asked Chloe.
"Nothing. Just leave it at that." Chloe thought to herself, 'Donovan is so powerful, with connections in the police department. When Amelia died last time, the case was closed in three days. Now, this case is also being closed quickly, and no one has been arrested.
He's really something.'
Chloe was no match for her.
If Donovan wanted to support Paisley, she had nothing more to say.
After all, they knew each other first.
"I'm pregnant, and I'm finding it hard to keep up with things. Starting tomorrow, I might not be able to help with the company's affairs. I've already finished the accounts for Elevate Structures Group. Can you take them to the office for me?" After saying this, Chloe stood up and went to the living room to get the completed accounts for Donovan.
She was clearly upset, and Donovan could see it.
"I'm supporting her to make them fight each other. She's just a target," Donovan said to Chloe.
"I never asked you to avenge me, did I? I'm just dissatisfied and feel uncomfortable," Chloe said, looking at him fearlessly. "You don't need to explain to me."
"Chloe!" Donovan gritted his teeth at her indifferent attitude.
"Yes? What's up?" Chloe replied.
Donovan was speechless and ultimately lost his temper.
During dinner, Chloe still served him food as usual, but she spoke very little.
At night, Donovan wanted to do something, but Chloe lay there like an unresponsive log.
"The child is yours. If something happens, I'll just be in physical pain. I wonder if you'll feel any pain in your heart," Chloe said flatly.
Hearing this, Donovan lost all desire.
Seeing him stop, Chloe continued to sleep.
The next day, when Donovan went to work, he specifically instructed Maya to keep a close eye on Chloe.
"Don't worry, Mr. Blake. With me around, nothing will happen."
After Chloe got up, she had nothing much to do.
She used to practice yoga at the office, but now she might have to move it to home.
In the morning, she was in a bad mood and told Maya she wanted to go downstairs for a walk and have a glass of milk at the café.
Maya accompanied her.
Chloe liked to sit by the window and watch the traffic outside.
Later, her phone received a WhatsApp message: [Chloe, is everything okay? If not, Ann and I can go to see you. Is that alright?]
It was from Brayden.
Brayden probably didn't want Donovan to misunderstand, so he specifically brought Ann along.
[I'm at Brew Haven Cafe downstairs. You guys can come.] Chloe replied.
About half an hour later, Brayden and Ann appeared.
Ann was particularly surprised to see Chloe's belly so big.
"Chloe, your belly is huge. Do people pregnant with twins have bellies this big? It's scary," Ann said.
Chloe just smiled and asked, "How come you two have time to see me?"
"Do we need to pick a special day to see you? We just missed you," Ann said.
If Brayden had come alone, Maya would have stayed longer, but since Ann was there too, Maya felt it was inconvenient and went grocery shopping.
The reason Brayden came to see Chloe today was because Maria had talked to him last night. She said Chloe's child was Donovan's and told Brayden not to waste his time raising someone else's child, as it was embarrassing. She also told him to distance himself from Chloe.
Brayden didn't know what Maria had said on the phone and was worried Chloe might overthink, so he came to see her today.
He also didn't want Donovan to misunderstand, so he brought Ann along.
Ann now knew that Chloe's child was Donovan's.
"Why are you unhappy? Chloe, you're going to have a baby," Ann and Brayden each ordered a latte.
"Don't mention it. My grandma recently passed away, and it's been exhausting. I feel like I can't keep up," Chloe said, holding her head.
"I heard about your grandma from Jacob," Brayden said, "Chloe, don't be sad. Your grandma was very old."
Chloe sighed. "You guys don't understand."
