Chapter 192 Not Allowed to Sleep With Me
"Donovan… He got married?" Gordon exclaimed.
"Yes. We just didn't tell you before this. Dad, Grandpa and Donovan both miss you and want you to move back in with us. Is that okay?" Chloe asked in an extremely diplomatic and polite manner.
Gordon fell silent for a moment. "Did something happen to Dad?"
Chloe thought, 'Members of the Blake family are all so clear-headed.'
Gordon probably knew Donovan would never let him move back, so he instead asked if something had happened to his father.
Upon realizing she could not hide the truth from Gordon, Chloe said, "Yes. Grandpa is sick."
"I'll be back as soon as possible." Gordon immediately hung up the phone.
Judging by the sound echoing from her phone, Chloe knew Gordon really did hang up.
"Grandpa, is it okay that I told him that?" Chloe asked.
Donovan's grandfather did not answer her.
Chloe could not figure out what she had said that made Grandpa silently grin.
"Thank you, Chloe. Also, find a way to punish Donovan for not telling me about his cornea transplant." Grandpa forcefully smiled at Chloe.
"Okay." Chloe nodded. "Grandpa, you don't harbor any resentment toward me."
"Over your birth and background?"
Chloe nodded.
"Academics like me only care about someone's future, not their past. Chloe, you are a very kind woman of integrity. That's enough in my eyes. I have also met your mom, Amelia. She's a good woman, and from what Paisley said, your dad's eyes were donated to Donovan. I should be grateful to you." His eyes shone with tears.
"Grandpa..." She held his hand.
"Make Donovan pay the price now." He pushed Chloe away as he wanted to get some rest.
Chloe walked into the living room to find Donovan smoking.
He probably had a clear picture of Grandpa's health.
"Grandpa wants me to punish you," Chloe said.
"What punishment?" Donovan exhaled with his eyes unfocused.
"I'll punish you to…" Chloe had never punished her husband before. Her inexperience meant she had no clue what punishment was expected. "I'll punish you to kneel on a keyboard."
"We don't have any here."
"Then, I'll punish you to…" Chloe looked around. There was no durian as well, and even if there was one here, she knew he would never kneel on it. He was a proud man who would not bow before anyone else. "I'll punish you by not allowing you to sleep with me tonight!"
Chloe could not help but feel pleased at the thought of that punishment.
"Chloe!" Donovan scowled as he raised his voice at her.
"Get out if you won't obey me!" With that said, Chloe went upstairs.
Soon after, Donovan also entered the bedroom.
Chloe was somewhat avoiding Donovan. After all, his punishment was the inability to sleep with her that night. She was also somewhat afraid of him as he had hit someone. There was a chance he might get so angry at her at some point in the future that he would actually hit her.
There was no helping her fear.
Donovan kept on smoking in silence as he sat on the bed.
"Why did you hit Paisley today?" Chloe could not resist asking.
"To make her and Barbara go after each other's throats." Donovan narrowed his eyes at Chloe.
Chloe did not get it.
However, Chloe then realized that Barbara had to have been the one to tell Paisley about her birth and background. Although Barbara did not know exactly what Chloe's past was, she had to have heard from her parents that Chloe was not their biological child.
Paisely had come to instigate a conflict but in the end, Donovan hit Paisley. Although Paisley hated Donovan, she would definitely lash out at Barbara instead.
Donovan was certainly a sly man.
"You must feel bad about slapping Paisley today!" Chloe said in a jealousy-laced voice.
"I never once thought that."
"Will you hit me in the future?" Chloe cautiously asked.
"No." Donovan said.
"I can't trust you. I did just see you hit a woman." With that, Chloe pulled the blanket over herself and ignored him.
