Chapter 378 Photo
Chloe saw Brayden's comment and thought, 'Maple Valley's top auditor really lives up to his title.'
Just as she was about to reply, she noticed Carol's comment.
Carol replied to Brayden: [Impressive, Mr. Perez.]
Brayden responded with a humble "facepalm" emoji.
Carol then commented: [Since you're so impressive, teach me.]
Brayden replied: [Sure.]
Seeing their lively chat, Chloe lost interest and didn't reply. Even though she had the upper hand, she often felt down and worried about Francis. Despite his young age, she feared these events might affect him.
Three days after her Facebook post, Chloe ran into Cynthia in the school cafeteria.
"Feeling better?" Cynthia asked, touching Chloe's forehead, making her feel warm inside.
"Yeah, I'm fine now," Chloe said, sitting across from her.
"How did you get a fever? You need to take care of yourself," Cynthia said, making Chloe feel warm again. Chloe responded with a "hmm."
A foreign male student approached their table. "Excuse me, Cynthia?"
"Yes?" Cynthia replied, surprised.
"Is this your purse?" he asked, handing her a wallet.
Cynthia was overjoyed, repeatedly thanking him. She wanted to give him money, but he politely declined and walked away.
Seeing Cynthia so happy, Chloe said, "You look thrilled."
"Of course! Losing the ID is one thing, but the photos inside are precious. I might never get them again," Cynthia said, though she didn't show the photos to Chloe.
Chloe thought, "How handsome must the person in the photos be to make Cynthia so excited?" She felt a mix of pride and jealousy over Cynthia's affection for Donovan.
After eating, they chatted.
"Why did you decide to become a teacher while pursuing a PhD?" Chloe asked, curious.
"What's wrong with being a teacher? I can educate students. Why are you pursuing a graduate degree?" Cynthia asked back.
Chloe thought for a moment, then replied, "Maybe I don't want to lose face. A bachelor's degree isn't impressive, and I want to have confidence."
"Everyone has their own choices. This might be yours now, but it could change. Chloe, I might only stay in Verdania for another month. Our time together is limited. Good luck!" Cynthia said, patting Chloe's shoulder with a smile.
Chloe found Cynthia endearing and said, "Shall we add each other on WhatsApp?"
"Sure," Cynthia replied, taking out her phone.
As Chloe took out her phone, she saw a dozen WhatsApp messages from Jacob, all voice messages, indicating something urgent.
"Sorry, can you wait a moment?" Chloe said, checking the messages.
