Chapter 79 Crying Again
When they arrived home, Maya was serving the dishes.
Chloe sadly told her grandfather, "Grandpa, I'm not in the mood to eat. I'm going upstairs first."
"What's wrong with Chloe?" Grandpa asked Donovan.
There were only the two of them left at the dinner table.
Donovan suddenly felt that tonight's meal was a bit lonely.
"She's facing setbacks at work."
"She's facing setbacks at work, can't you help her?" Grandpa reproached Donovan.
Donovan didn't say anything. Chloe's setbacks were caused by him.
"Later, go make a bowl of noodles for Chloe."
"!" Donovan firmly refused.
"Donovan!" Clearly, Donovan's grandfather was not intimidated like Donovan's subordinates when he stared at him. "Go do it, Grandpa is watching you. How can you let your wife starve?"
Donovan reluctantly went to the kitchen and prepared a bowl of noodles for Chloe, with an egg on top.
In the past, he would never have done such a submissive thing.
But this time, he even carefully removed the yolk from the egg.
He had Maya bring it up to Chloe.
Chloe sat at her desk, engrossed in reading a book along with Brayden's notes, and "Accounting and Life." She purposefully left these materials at work to avoid any potential conflicts at home. When returning home, she only brought her textbook on "Financial Cost Management."
But at this moment, she couldn't focus on anything, holding the book absentmindedly.
Maya brought the noodles and specifically explained, "Madam, this was personally made by Mr. Blake."
"Him?" Chloe didn't believe it at all.
"Yes. This is the first time I have seen Mr. Blake cook in so many years. Please eat." Maya picked a few noodles for Chloe, afraid it would be too clumped together.
Chloe felt puzzled and guilty, believing that Donovan hadn't assisted her, which made her feel sorry.
She carefully looked at the cut egg. The yolk was gone because of his thoughtfulness. Chloe was moved and couldn't help but think of when she was a child and her father would occasionally come home. Chloe wanted to make noodles for her father, and he would pat her head and say, "Daddy will make it for Chloe."
When her father made eggs for Chloe, he would cook the egg, cut it in half, sauté the minced meat and vegetables, fill the space left by the yolk, and put it in the bowl of noodles.
Donovan didn't do it that way, but it still touched Chloe.
Chloe wolfed down the noodles while shedding tears.
She missed her father a lot.
Even though her father had left her, she wasn't far from him. He was by her side.
Donovan sent a WhatsApp message to Winslow: [Leave a position open for an assistant in the auditing department.]
Winslow: [Okay.].
After sending the WhatsApp message, Donovan went upstairs.
"Finished eating?" Donovan asked.
"Yes, thank you." Chloe was sincerely grateful for Donovan making the noodles.
"Don't overthink it. Grandpa asked me to do it for you." Donovan said expressionlessly.
But Chloe's feelings of gratitude remained strong. Despite eating messily, with a noodle hanging from the corner of her mouth, Chloe felt a sense of comfort with Donovan by her side. Disregarding everything else, she embraced Donovan's waist. His warmth enveloped her, distinct from her father's, emanating a cold yet irresistibly masculine scent unique to Donovan. Chloe found herself deeply captivated. This experience was unlike anything she had felt with her father.
Chloe's face rested against Donovan's body as she cried, feeling frustrated for being alone and unable to express her feelings. She cried even louder.
Donovan furrowed his brow. "Crying again?"
"I'm sorry, I couldn't hold it in. I won't cry anymore." Chloe hurriedly got up from Donovan's body to wipe her tears.
Unbeknownst to her, her tears, snot, and noodles had all stained Donovan's clothes.
"Chloe..." Donovan lowered his head to look at his clean shirt, grinding his teeth.
When Chloe saw his formerly neat and now wrinkled and dirty shirt, she felt as if she had caused a mess and quickly stood up from the chair. "Don't be angry, can't I wash it for you?"
As she spoke, she stood in front of Donovan and began unbuttoning his shirt.
Her face still had tear marks, her eyes were moist, and her hair was slightly disheveled. Lowing her head, she muttered as she unbuttoned, "Was it unintentional? Why are you so unreasonable? What temper?"
Chloe started unbuttoning from the bottom and worked her way up to the top.
Feeling a bit embarrassed looking at Donovan’s body so directly, her face turned redder and her ears burned.
Donovan remembered the last time she saw him change clothes, her face did the same thing.
How long has it been? She still hasn't adapted, always acting like an inexperienced virgin?
Unfortunately, she is no longer one.
She has already given herself to him.
Donovan found it quite interesting. He spread his arms and let Chloe undress him freely.
"Put this on me." Donovan stood still and said to Chloe.
Chloe put the shirt in the bathroom to wash, preparing the water and detergent first.
"Your husband still hasn't put on clothes," Donovan shouted from outside.
"Yeah, wait a moment. I'll soak the clothes first." Chloe rushed and felt somewhat unwilling.
Coming out of the bathroom, Chloe randomly picked a dark blue shirt from Donovan's wardrobe for him to change into.
Donovan looked good in the deep blue shirt, or rather, he looked good in any color shirt, a clothes hanger.
"Still cold?" Chloe looked up at him after helping him change clothes.
Donovan,d abjusting his cuffs, said lightly, "Considerate of you."
Chloe thought to herself: What does "considerate" mean? Clearly, it's hardworking.
