Chapter 589: What's Wrong with Her?
Jeffery had a broken arm in a cast and a bandage wrapped around his head.
Seeing him like this made Jane feel a wave of concern wash over her.
"What happened? Are you worried your mom will freak out if she sees you injured on a video call?" Jane asked Jeffery. "Is it serious? Has it been disinfected?"
"It's been disinfected. The doctor treated it, but I need to rest for a few days," Jeffery said. "Dr. Allen, could you check on my mom for me?"
"Of course. Do you want me to update you on how she's doing after I see her?" Jane asked.
Jeffery nodded.
After ending the video call, Jane thought.
It was time for Jane to embrace her "caring girlfriend" side. She wanted to send Jeffery some homemade frozen meals packed with nutrients, but she didn't have his address. Asking him directly was out of the question—he would definitely refuse.
After thinking it over, Jane decided to ask Maya, and also check on how Maya was doing.
Just then, Chloe called Jane, saying she wanted Jane to help her act out a scene.
"Act? Sure. Let's make him suffer!" Jane said fiercely.
Jane brought some medication for gynecological inflammation to Donovan's house.
Donovan wasn't home, only Maya was there.
Since her surgery, Maya's stomach no longer hurt, and she was very grateful to Jane.
Looking at the medication Jane brought her, Maya said emotionally, "You know how people always say it's great to have a doctor in the family? Just look at these meds. Hospital doctors usually wouldn't prescribe these. They always push the expensive ones that don't even do the job."
Jane smiled, "Maya, I'm not part of your family yet."
Maya just smiled, a bit regretfully, "That's true."
"By the way, do you know Jeffery's address? I want to send him something," Jane asked.
Hearing this, Maya suddenly felt a glimmer of hope, "Oh? What's that?"
"Last time Jeffery mentioned he was getting bored, always training at the camp, and wanted me to send him some books. So, I thought I'd ask you for his address," Jane replied smoothly, weaving her little lie.
Maya put on her reading glasses and started searching on her phone, "He sent it to me last time, let me find it for you."
Soon, she sent Jeffery's address to Jane.
"Got it." Jane thanked Maya.
"Alright. Wait, I'll get you some water," Maya said, getting up to fetch water for Jane.
As soon as Maya turned around, Jane sent a WhatsApp message to Chloe: [You call.]
Jane's phone rang.
"What's up, Chloe?" Jane asked.
Jane noticed Maya's steps pause slightly.
"If it hurts, use a hot water bottle on your belly and make sure to get plenty of rest. Got it? This is not a small matter."
"Yeah, I know you don't want it. If you end up miscarrying, it just means you and that baby just weren't meant to be," Jane continued.
"Besides, you're not married yet, you can't keep it. You're in school, alone, with a child. Do you really want everyone at school laughing at you?"
"Alright, I'll come see you in a bit."
Jane glanced sideways at Maya, confirming that Maya had heard everything she said.
Maya knew it was Chlo who calledJane.
After bringing the water, Jane said, "Maya, I'm really sorry, I need to check on Chloe."
"Is something wrong with her?" Maya was very concerned about Chloe.
"She..." Jane paused, as if wrestling with the truth. "It's nothing serious. Maya, you just focus on getting better."
