Chapter 149 Chloe's Unstoppable Door
Chloe didn't come out for dinner, nor did she open the door for Donovan.
She was afraid that Donovan would sense her unusual emotions and inquire. He was so shrewd that knowing the truth wouldn't be difficult for him.
If Donovan knew she was upset because of Brayden, who knew what he would do. He might make Brayden kneel and beg him for mercy, or make him buy clothes for her while being humiliated.
So, when Donovan knocked on the door and said, "Chloe, if you don't open the door soon, I'll go back to the villa."
She promptly replied, "Okay!"
Chloe's blunt "okay" hurt Donovan's pride, and he awkwardly smiled at Amelia.
"Well, I'll leave then." With his status and position, being controlled emotionally by a girl was embarrassing enough. Pushing further would just be even more humiliating.
He left with the keys.
After Donovan left, Amelia knocked on Chloe's door and asked her what was wrong.
Chloe said, "It's nothing, you should go to bed."
Amelia helplessly went into her own bedroom. Before leaving, she told Chloe, "You should comfort Donovan tomorrow. Men also need to be comforted."
"Okay," Chloe replied absentmindedly.
Chloe unconsciously reached for her phone, trying to calm her emotions.
Sending a message to Brayden on WhatsApp now would not be a good idea. Perhaps it would be better for her to pretend not to know about this matter.
Donovan returned to the hillside villa.
Grandpa asked him, "Haven't you been staying at Chloe's house these days? Why are you back? How is Chloe's mother?"
"She's fine. Aren't you worried about me?" Donovan said as he walked upstairs.
"Don't use that as an excuse. You've installed cameras in my bedroom, the doctor is on standby 24/7, what are you so worried about?"
"These are just precautionary measures to ensure your well-being," Donovan replied before heading upstairs.
The reason he came back tonight was not just because Chloe didn't welcome him, but also because he was worried about the contents of the USB drive. He feared the unknown in the dead of night.
Otherwise, could Chloe's door really stop him?
After showering, he opened his laptop and inserted the USB drive. It contained a long video of his early entrepreneurial days.
At that time, he was in the middle of a discussion, talking to a project manager. He lost his temper, berating the project manager for not completing the project on time. After roaring, he picked up the ashtray nearby and threw it at the project manager.
The project manager's forehead bled profusely.
Donovan snorted coldly, "Paisley!"
The video was too large to send via WhatsApp.
Paisley even called Chloe specifically, implying that she and Donovan were having an affair, which was why she placed the USB drive in Donovan's most personal bag.

Paisley knew that Chloe's father was a project manager. She had hoped to make Chloe empathize with the victim and resent Donovan as a capitalist. Paisley believed that Donovan didn't know about the cornea issue, let alone how exactly this video would affect Chloe.
He called Paisley. "What do you mean by sending this video to Chloe?"
"What? Did you see it? I was supposed to send you the video of you being named as one of the top ten outstanding young people. Did I send the wrong one?" Paisley said.
Donovan hung up the phone.
Sooner or later, he would have to tell Paisley in the cruelest way possible that he knew about this matter! He had to put a stop to her little schemes.
Donovan destroyed the USB drive.
