"You mustn't go!"
Chloe did not expect that when she discussed it with Donovan, he would oppose it so firmly.
"Why? She is my grandmother, and I suspect someone deliberately set the fire."
"The detective doesn't need your help." After he expressed his opposition, Donovan's tone became much calmer.
"When my mother passed away, you fed me sleeping pills and didn't let me attend her funeral. Now you won't let me attend my grandmother's funeral either? I've decided to forget the past. Don't bring it up again." Chloe was very angry.

Donovan stared at Chloe intently. "Did you tell my the babies were mine just to threaten me?"
Chloe turned her head away in fury, ignoring him. She knew that once she told him the children were his, she would lose her freedom.
"Give Betty ten thousand dollars! They'll understand if you can't make it because you're pregnant!" Donovan issued his final warning. "And if you really decide to do something drastic, I swear you'll be sorry!"
"You..." Chloe knew that reasoning with him was impossible.
Chloe knew that if he didn't allow her to go, there was no way she could leave. More importantly, her current physical condition made it unlikely for her to follow through with her abortion threat.
Chloe could somewhat understand why he didn't let her go. There would be many people at the funeral, and Grandma Morgan's funeral was to be held in Sunshine Bay City.
