Chapter 64: Afraid of Being Criticized for Not Being Able to Teach His Wife
"What are you so happy about?" Donovan asked Chloe on the way back home that evening.
Chloe's face beamed with pride.
"You praised me for the first time, of course I'm happy," Chloe couldn't contain her joy.
"You're thinking too much," Donovan lightly raised his lips.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm afraid of being criticized for not being able to teach my wife," Donovan said nonchalantly.
Chloe turned her head to look out the window, ignoring Donovan.
He always enjoyed dampening other people's spirits.
"Where are you going on your business trip?" Chloe asked Donovan. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I'm going back to Pearl Peak City, don't tell Grandpa," Donovan replied.
"But you're going on a business trip, why won't you tell him?" Chloe looked at Donovan sideways, feeling puzzled.
"In short, don't tell anyone, just say that I went on a business trip," he said.
"Isn't it a business trip?" Chloe asked.
Donovan didn't answer. He looked ahead and didn't say anything.
Chloe thought to herself defiantly: If he won't say it, then he won't say it!
Chloe stayed with Blake's family for another three weeks, and nothing much happened. A pleasant surprise for Chloe was that her grandfather's health didn't worsen. In fact, there were signs of improvement. He went for walks every morning and even went swimming occasionally. He paid careful attention to his meals and had a strong confidence and perseverance to fight his illness.
Sometimes Chloe would accompany her grandfather for walks and swimming.
She once said to her grandfather, "Grandpa, I really admire you."
Her grandfather just smiled.
Chloe thought that her grandfather might have seen his great-grandchild, so he was very motivated.
If one day her grandfather found out that she actually didn't have a child, how disappointed would he be?
During these twenty-plus days, Chloe even went for a check-up, just for show.
Donovan finally went on his business trip.
But unexpectedly, on the first day after he left, Paisley wanted to treat Chloe to a meal.
She called Chloe.
After being instigated and manipulated by Paisley a few times, Chloe had no favorable impression of her, so she declined.
"Do you know what Donovan is actually doing on his business trip?" Paisley said on the phone.
Chloe was taken aback. She had asked him several times why he was going on a business trip, but he never said.

Paisley invited Chloe to the most romantic rooftop garden restaurant in Maple Valley.
When Chloe arrived, Paisley was already there, dressed in all white, like a goddess.
Chloe couldn't help but wonder why Paisley, who always presented herself in a seductive image, was dressed in white today.
"Miss Chloe, you're here?" Paisley said.
Paisley always called Chloe "Miss Chloe."
"What do you want with me? I'm afraid that if I'm seen with Ms. Torres, the journalists will take pictures," Chloe looked around.
Paisley smiled faintly and said, "Miss Chloe, this place is exclusive to members. The annual membership fee is two hundred thousand dollars, the reporters can't get in."

"Do you know why I'm wearing white today?"
"I don't know." Chloe shook her head in confusion.
"Tomorrow is my father's death anniversary."
Chloe's mind went blank for a while. That's why Paisley is wearing white.
It's also probably the reason why Donovan is on a business trip.
"Death anniversary? Your father passed away?" Chloe asked.
"Yes. Every year on my father's death anniversary, Donovan goes back to accompany my mother. He never delays it. I dare not go back, afraid that I'll cry my heart out. My father saved Donovan's life, and Donovan bought several houses for my mother in Pearl Peak City. He goes back every year to visit her. Donovan and I were in a year-long relationship. Chloe thought to herself, Paisley said so much probably because she wanted Chloe to have an abortion.
Chloe actually knew some of the history between Donovan and Paisley. There were pictures of Paisley in his house, and Paisley had always been thinking about Donovan, wanting Chloe to divorce him.
Chloe also knew some things about Donovan planning to marry Paisley in the future.
