Chapter 672 Like Me?

Charlotte was still feeling the sting from the "lecture" she got after spilling her guts, so she put on a fake angry face to hide her embarrassment.

Halfway through, she had to hit the restroom. On her way back, she walked past Charles, paused for a sec, then stopped and quickly pecked him on the cheek.

Charles didn't say a word.

Charlotte was already back in her seat, grinning. She knew if she didn't seize this moment, she'd miss out. Since she'd already confessed today, she had to go all in.

"Do you like me?" Charles asked, staring at her.

Charlotte was stirring her tiramisu with a little spoon, smiling but staying quiet.

A young girl's feelings, once out in the open, naturally made her super shy.

"Well, don't forget about the bidding thing," Charlotte said.

"Okay." Charles's tone suddenly got a lot more subdued.

In the end, Charlotte kissed Charles because of the bidding thing. He found it pretty dull.

After a long silence, Charles said, "This is mostly business. There are tons of companies making drones, and a lot of them are pretty big. Plus, the bidding process isn't just up to me."

Charlotte looked up, feeling a bit helpless and kinda tricked. "So I kissed you for nothing?"

"Do you think your kiss is worth that much?" Charles's tone was kinda cold.

"Then what about sleeping with you?" Charlotte already knew Charles had a great body. Modern women are super open and never hide their desire to sleep with a guy, and this attitude was clear in her eyes and on her face.

But compared to other women's greed and lust, Charlotte still seemed innocent and cute.

Even so, it didn't change anything. It didn't change her opportunistic attitude in Charles's eyes.

"This is business. Anything else?" Charles suddenly got a bit angry.

"No, nothing else."

"Goodbye." With that, Charles stood up and left.

Charlotte watched him walk away, still a bit dazed, thinking: How did I tick off Charles? She always thought Charles liked her. She thought that by being so straightforward, he'd be happy, not just walk away.

Compared to the disappointment of possibly losing the bid, getting rejected by Charles was even more crushing for Charlotte.

Charles's car hit the busy streets. The lights of Maple Valley flickered around him. While waiting at a red light, he looked ahead, squinting a bit, thinking: What kind of dumb idea did Donovan come up with? Probably, when women chased Donovan, as long as they fell into Donovan's routine, Donovan didn't care. But Charles didn't want that. Charles wanted a real relationship.

[How did it go?] Donovan texted Charles, super curious about what went down between him and Charlotte.

Probably because Chloe had come back from Hudson University today, he was in a good mood. Right now, Chloe was in the bathroom taking a shower, and he was chilling alone on the living room sofa.

[Donovan, this is your company. Do you not care about the bidding? Treating it like a game to build relationships?] Charles was already pretty critical of Donovan, still watching.

[This bidding was originally a trap set for Charlotte.]

[I don't like it! I plan to handle the bidding officially. I intend to pick another company, one that has both size and strength.]

[I've worked hard to set this up for you, and this is the thanks I get?] Donovan seemed a bit ticked off.

[Yes.] Charles was a bit angry.
