Chapter 200 He Loves Pizza

When Clara heard their response, she didn't say a word and just quietly ate her meal.
However, Chloe could tell that she was very upset.
After dinner, Chloe asked Maya to take dinner upstairs to Donovan and went to the supermarket with Clara.
"In the past, Donovan used to have pizza every Christmas, but now he doesn't eat them anymore. Probably because he doesn't want to see us," Clara said.
"Mom, don't be sad. You still have me," Chloe said, linking her arm tightly with Clara's.
"Good. If I had a daughter like you, that would be great," Clara said, patting Chloe's head.
Although Donovan was not happy that Gordon and Clara were back, Chloe was happy because she now had so many more family members.
All of her family called her "Chloe".
When Clara and Chloe left the supermarket, it started drizzling. Luckily, Chloe had the habit of carrying an umbrella when she went out.
This time they took a taxi.
When they arrived home, they saw Donovan standing at the door.
He had his hands in his pockets and was dressed in a thin set of clothing as he paced at the door.
He never liked to use an umbrella.
Chloe quickly got out of the car and held the umbrella over Donovan's head, anxiously saying, "Why don't you have an umbrella? You'll catch a cold."
"Let's go," Donovan said, taking Chloe's hand.
Clara watched the couple walk away while silently carrying her shopping. She felt so awkward and sad.
When they reached the living room door, Chloe heard noise from inside.
"Who's in there?" she asked Donovan.
"No one important," Donovan said, tightening his grip on Chloe's hand.
Once they entered the living room, Chloe saw Brayden and Dylan sitting on the couch while Gordon sat on the other couch.
Dylan stood up and respectfully said to Donovan, "Mr. Blake."
Donovan coldly responded with a simple grunt.
"Mr. Blake, we haven't spoken to you yet after our arrival. Brayden is preparing to hand over the South Central accounting firm to Ann as he's planning to go abroad by the end of the year," Dylan said.
"Is that why you're here? I thought you were going to talk about the BlueOcean Estate Group," Donovan said, his gaze fixed on Brayden.
Dylan's face immediately turned sour. "Oh, I meant to talk about the BlueOcean Estate Group, and also about Brayden."
Brayden's gaze turned to Chloe, and he said with a smile in his eyes, "You're back."
Before Chloe could answer, Donovan led her upstairs.
During their ascent, Chloe saw Donovan mutter to himself, "Deceitful man."
Chloe guessed that the deceitful man was probably Dylan.
Suddenly, Chloe remembered the documents Donovan had shown her which detailed how Dylan, along with other small real estate companies, had collaborated to suppress the BlueOcean Estate Group, causing a sudden drop in property prices using the Sarah Stewart murder case, leading Gordon to bankruptcy overnight and giving him a severe mental illness.
Now, they were peacefully shaking hands.
The person who had been so cruel to Gordon in the past was now treating Donovan with such respect.
Therefore, Donovan's cunning ways must have surpassed Gordon's by far.
Chloe suddenly understood what Donovan meant. He did not become an academic, but over the years, he cleaned up some of Gordon's messes and grown the business by so much.
Even with his corneas damaged, he never faltered.
He was indeed, as Victoria had said, one of the top entrepreneurs.
Gordon was a coward, running abroad at the first sign of trouble.
Donovan didn't like Gordon.
Gordon was too afraid to face Donovan.
At the thought of the hardships Donovan had endured, Chloe's eyes welled up with tears.
As soon as she closed the bedroom door, Chloe pressed Donovan against it and kissed him.
She didn't speak and just kissed Donovan for a long time, even instinctively kissing his ear.
"Honey, I'm sorry!" Chloe clung to Donovan's neck with both arms.
"Sorry for what?" Donovan asked Chloe.
He sounded somewhat relieved and admiring.
In the darkness, Chloe sincerely said, "When you were going through tough times, I hadn't met you or stayed by your side."
"You don't know it, but you were there for me," Donovan said.
Chloe thought for a moment. "Is it about when you were blind, and I helped you get water?"
Chloe had asked that very tentatively, thinking Donovan might not know of it.
However, after observing him closely several times, Donovan seemed to know everything.
It was like he was an omnipotent god observing Chloe, a mere human.
"Yes." Donovan hugged Chloe tightly.
Chloe smiled and lowered her head as she grinned. "So, you love pizza, and you never told me."
"Do you know how to make them?"
"I'm very good at it."
"You'll have to do it for life. I don't want half-hearted efforts," Donovan said.
Chloe thought for a long time and solemnly nodded.
His meaning was clear. They would never get a divorce.
"Then, I'll make them for you tomorrow and for life, okay?" Chloe asked.
"No lying!"
"Okay. If I lie, my nose will grow," Chloe said.
She had also picked up that turn of phrase from Donovan.
