Chapter 283 What Wish Was Made?
Sofia lit twenty-nine candles on Logan's birthday cake.
“Almost thirty, make a wish," Sofia said to Logan.
"What did you wish for?" Donovan asked Logan after he made his wish.
"If I tell you, it won't come true. I'll keep it to myself," replied Logan, a good-natured man with a constant smile.
Chloe kept glancing at Donovan, curious if he had forgotten to buy Logan a gift. She hadn't noticed him bring any gift with him today.
"How's your game company doing lately?" Donovan asked Logan.
"We've been working on some new games and just teamed up with NexInnovate Technologies Company, the biggest game company in Maple Valley. They helped fund the production of 'The Aristocrats,' which we believe is going to be a huge success and bring in a lot of money next year," Logan explained.
"I'll invest ten million in you. We'll sign the contract at the office on Monday," Donovan said nonchalantly.
Logan was a bit stunned, unable to believe it, but he quickly regained his composure. "Really?"
"Your birthday gift."
"This gift is too generous. Thank you, Mr. Blake."
Chloe thought, ' If he doesn't give gifts, that's okay, but when he does, it's in the millions.'
It seemed that Logan and Donovan indeed had a good relationship before.
"Sofia asked Logan, "How can you be sure that investing in 'The Aristocrats' will be profitable? What if the show doesn't do well?”
“You don't get it, do you? Pamela Film Company only does one big show each year, and it takes years to write the script. It's not going to flop. Plus, why would Pamela risk her reputation? She's a veteran in television. Although Pamela is mostly overseas as the chairwoman, her influence is felt strongly here," Logan clarified.
Chloe wasn't really into those talks and didn't know much about Pamela or Logan's game company.
She just thought Sofia might be overanalyzing things; Logan didn't seem overly interested in her.
But she didn't mind being a little affectionate with Donovan in front of Logan. If Logan had any ideas about her, she wanted to clear them up fast.
So, Chloe would occasionally touch Donovan's hand or lean against him, acting very affectionate.
Donovan played along well.
After their meal, Logan and Sofia decided to go fishing by the river. Chloe and Donovan sat behind them.
Chloe lay on Donovan's lap on the warm grass, feeling very comfortable under the sun. Logan kept turning his face to talk to Sofia.
"That grand gift you gave was quite impressive," Chloe said with her eyes closed.
"If you want to save face, I'll give it to you," Donovan replied nonchalantly.
Despite his casual tone, Chloe detected a deeper meaning in his words, as if there was something more to them. She opened her eyes and met Donovan's gaze.
Donovan was also looking at her. Chloe thought she saw Logan glance in their direction. She wrapped her arm around Donovan's neck, pulled his head down, and kissed his lips.
Since Chloe had been away, they hadn't shared a proper kiss except in bed.
Today, they were particularly intimate and affectionate, a rarity since they had gotten married.
Chloe was enjoying Donovan's kiss.
She started by glancing at Logan, but eventually closed her eyes and got lost in the moment. Donovan's hand began to explore under her clothes.
Chloe felt conflicted about resisting, but ended up letting him continue. She felt uncomfortable about Logan and Sofia witnessing this from a distance.
After Donovan finished kissing her, Chloe opened her eyes, her face flushed. In that moment, she also caught sight of Logan kissing Sofia.
