Chapter 292 She Was Going to Drink It in Front of Him
The next day, Donovan left early.
Maya prepared a lunchbox for Chloe to take with her for lunch.
"From now on, make lunch for both of us. Just make an extra portion," Chloe said to Maya.
"Alright," Maya replied, feeling pleased to see Chloe's attitude softening a bit today.
Maya didn't go with Chloe to the New East Group, where Donovan had complete control.
"Chloe, you're finally here. Look at all these files on my desk. I'm overwhelmed. Let's get to work quickly. If you get tired, take a break," Victoria said.
"Okay," Chloe responded calmly, picking up the files on the desk.
She was experienced in this work and handled it with ease.
With Chloe's help, Victoria's progress was indeed very fast.
At three in the afternoon, Chloe wanted to take a walk as sitting for too long made her uncomfortable.
She didn't go far, just to the yoga room to practice some yoga and stretch her muscles.
However, just as she was about to change into her yoga clothes, Rebecca said, "Chloe, I bought you a new set. Take a look."
With that, Instructor Rebecca took out a loose-fitting yoga outfit.
Chloe examined the yoga clothes in her hands. While they were stylish and elegant, they were also quite conservative, covering her whole body and appearing loose, which might hinder her movements and make her look awkward. Chloe couldn't imagine Instructor Rebecca recommending such yoga attire.
Additionally, the sudden request for Chloe to change into new yoga clothes seemed rather abrupt.
"Did he ask you to buy these?" Chloe recalled yesterday when Donovan probably went to Mario's office and saw her practicing yoga.
Rebecca noticed that Chloe caught on right away and felt a little embarrassed. "Men are all alike. They don't like it when their women are seen by others. Try to see things from Mr. Blake's perspective."
Chloe didn't respond, but she felt upset. She recognized his selfish and possessive tendencies resurfacing. Wearing these clothes made her feel even more confined.
"I'm not practicing today," Chloe said, losing her mood, and returned to the audit department to continue working.
Donovan's strict rules stirred up Chloe's rebellious side, making her a little defiant. When her cup was empty, Chloe wanted to order a cup of coffee. The minimum order was two cups, so she ordered two. She used to enjoy coffee, but she hadn't had any since her time in Verdania.
After coming back and becoming pregnant, she knew that drinking coffee was harmful to the baby, so she resisted despite her cravings.
But now, she didn't want to control herself anymore.
Just like last time in the conference room when she slept to spite him, this time, she was going to drink coffee to spite him.
'Let him try to control everything.' Chloe thought.
Furthermore, Chloe's main goal was to use the coffee as a test to confirm if he truly knew the child was his.
Due to the restriction that prevented outsiders from going upstairs in the audit department, the delivery person contacted her from the front desk to pick up her order.
"Mrs. Blake, you're pregnant. Drinking coffee isn't good for you," the young lady at the front desk said to Chloe.
"It's fine," Chloe replied with a hint of defiance in her tone.
She carried the two cups of coffee back to the audit department and gave one to Victoria.
"I don't drink. Chloe, you shouldn't drink it either. The baby in your belly is important.t," Victoria advised Chloe.
"Yeah, I'll just drink a little bit," Chloe said, pinching her fingers to indicate "a little bit."
"Watch out for Mr. Blake; he might get upset and cause you some problems," Victoria whispered to Chloe.
Chloe was not bothered. She wanted to test if he would cause any issues. She only took two small sips to curb her craving.
With one and a half cups of coffee remaining, she intended to take them to the car and drink them there, just to make a point.
