Chapter 231 What a "first"
After Kenneth's passing, it took a long time for Donovan to digest it.
However, he thought to himself that he had been good to Kenneth, never causing Kenneth any suffering. Although Kenneth had once kneeled for Gordon's sake in his lifetime, that was all in the past.
David went to Donovan's office.
He said, "Mr. Blake, Brayden has returned home dragging a large suitcase. It seems he won't be going back to Verdania, but..." David hesitated.
"But what?" Donovan asked.
"But Mrs. Blake also came back with him. It seems they went to the gynecologist today, probably for a prenatal check-up," David said.
Donovan coldly smirked.
He thought, 'She came back with Brayden?
'They are quite affectionate, aren't they?
'This was meant to be shown to me.'
Initially, Donovan didn't want to interfere too much in Chloe's life. Knowing she was feeling down, he intentionally let her go to Verdania to relax. He didn't say anything about her not attending the school he arranged for her. Donovan also didn't contact Chloe again, fearing it might startle her and she would change schools. After all, her beloved Amelia had been wrongfully killed,
so he tolerated her. However, he didn't expect Brayden to also go to Suncrest University. He thought Verdania was so big that the two wouldn't meet, but now they had children together! It was embarrassing for Donovan.
For the first time in his life, Donovan was so angry!
He wished he could kill Chloe.
This time, he wanted to bring Brayden back from Verdania, leaving Chloe alone there. However, he didn't expect her to come back too.
"Shall we still monitor them?" David asked Donovan.
"Stop monitoring," Donovan said, tossing aside the lighter in his hand.
Since Amelia's death, she was no longer under his control. 'She can sleep with whomever she wants and have children with whomever she wants,' Donovan thought.
After returning, Brayden quickly prepared for the new office.
He often consulted with Chloe.
Chloe rented a one-bedroom apartment, which made her feel lonely, especially now that she was pregnant and needed care. Brayden was very worried about Chloe's situation. She hadn't looked for another job because she was going to partner with Brayden to open the office. Besides, most companies were reluctant to hire pregnant women.
"How are you? Did you have the surgery?" Brayden asked Chloe with great concern when he visited her at home.
"Don't mention it. I'm pregnant with twins," Chloe said, regretting having these two children.
"Twins?" Brayden was also surprised. "Chloe, have you ever thought about finding a father for the children?"
Brayden stared earnestly at Chloe.
Chloe had never liked anyone other than Donovan, so when Brayden suddenly brought up this question, she found it awkward.
"I..." Chloe hesitated a lot.
She hadn't considered finding a father for the children as her pregnancy was an accident.
"If you haven't made a decision, let's talk about something else. We need to open the office. I've already chosen a location; it's in the building above the South Central accounting firm. We have a whole floor for our office. I've already started the paperwork, and we have staff ready. In the future, we'll merge with South Central accounting firm and expand our business. Would you like to come up with a name for our company?" Brayden asked Chloe.
After thinking for a long time, Chloe couldn't come up with a name.
"Did you see the one I sent you last time?" Brayden asked again.
"Last time?" Chloe was surprised.
Last time, she hadn't seen Brayden's message as she had gone to sleep. Then Kenneth's incident happened. Chloe had been busy those days and felt exhausted, so she hadn't paid attention to it.
"Never mind, I'll take care of it," Brayden said.
"Okay." Chloe had been feeling tired lately. If it were before, she could stay up all night.
Chloe needed to rest, so Brayden left.
In the end, Brayden named his accounting firm "First."
Ronald went to report Brayden's return to Donovan.
But Ronald didn't know that Chloe had also returned.
"Mr. Blake, my son has returned home. He has opened his own office and is now partnering with someone. I'm getting old and don't have many years left. I'm planning to pass on the Perez family's business to him," Ronald said.
Ronald felt completely controlled by Donovan in this matter concerning Brayden. Whatever he did was wrong, so his attitude was naturally somewhat humble.
"Is that so? What's the name of the office? Who is he partnering with?" Donovan asked.
"It's called First accounting firm. As for the partner, I'm not sure, probably some of his classmates," Ronald said.
'First accounting firm! What a First accounting firm! What a first time!' Donovan thought.
