Chapter 673 Beg Me
Even Charles felt a bit wronged. What had Charlotte done to him for just a ten-million-dollar project? What did she take him for?
After saying this, Charles's face looked super serious in the night.
Chloe came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel, her hair wet and water droplets still on her body. As she walked out, she grabbed her phone from the table.
Jane had sent her a message!
Chloe's eyes widened; it was indeed from Jane.
There was only one sentence: [Tomorrow afternoon, after you get off work, I'll go see the child.]
Chloe replied with one word: [Okay.]
She was in a good mood and even told Donovan about it.
"Jane wants to see Jake. She must really like Jeffery. She's not someone who likes to lower her head, but now, for Jeffery, she's taking the initiative to see the child. I'm very pleased," Chloe said while drying her hair with a towel.
"Jeffery is very charming," Donovan said jealously. "Why didn't you fancy him back then? If it weren't for me, would you have developed something with him? Last time Jeffery came, I saw the way he looked at you; there was definitely some regret."
Donovan's teasing gaze fixed on Chloe.
Chloe paused her hair-drying and said, "I can't be bothered with you!"
Before long, Donovan got into bed, pressed Chloe beneath him, and pulled off her towel.
Donovan had mixed feelings of love and hate towards Chloe. These intertwined emotions made Chloe even more unforgettable and deeply ingrained in his heart.
"Will you be home tomorrow afternoon?" Chloe asked Donovan. "I felt quite bad for hitting Jane last time. If you're home, let's invite her for a nice meal. After all, we've been classmates for many years. Is that okay?"
"Beg me," Donovan said, kissing Chloe's chest. Chloe's speech became slow and ambiguous.
"Beg you!"
"Beg me properly."
"Is my attitude not good enough?" Chloe asked.
"Let's get the marriage certificate next Monday?"
Chloe thought for a moment and reluctantly said, "Okay."
Detecting the reluctance in Chloe's tone, Donovan asked her, "You don't want to?"
"No, I do want to," Chloe said.
Chloe didn't know where this reluctance in her tone came from. It was only in the middle of the night, when she suddenly couldn't sleep, that she understood where it came from.
She loved Donovan. In her youth, she had admired him from afar. Donovan's overwhelming presence made her look up to him. His possessiveness fulfilled all her girlish fantasies about love. But gradually, she found Donovan too ruthless, always setting traps for others without considering their feelings. He ignored not only Chloe's parents' feelings but even his own parents' feelings. Of course, this "ignoring" was different; at least he would make Chloe hate him for the sake of his father.
As she grew older, Chloe's romantic fantasies about love had gradually diminished. These differences in values became more apparent, leading Chloe to disapprove of many things.
Thinking about this, Chloe's mindset shifted from romantic to realistic. Now, she and Donovan were equals, and her perspective on him had changed.
