Chapter 379 He Was Too Overbearing
These WhatsApp messages had come in in the middle of the night. Chloe usually kept her phone on silent to avoid being disturbed while she slept. She didn't check her phone in the morning as she was rushing to get ready for class, and she went straight to the cafeteria afterward.
Jacob: [Chloe, look at what kind of person Donovan is. He's trying to kick me out! Does he have any respect for our family? You did the right thing by divorcing him.]
Jacob: [Chloe, I liked Janet first, but Donovan slept with her. How can I tolerate this? I confronted that bastard.]
Jacob sounded furious. Since Chloe missed the best time to reply, it didn't make much sense to respond now. She added Cynthia on WhatsApp. Cynthia seemed like she wanted to say something but didn't and just parted ways with Chloe.
Chloe didn't know what happened in the president's office of New East Group yesterday, but this was the gist: Jacob saw the news about Janet and Donovan. He was livid. He had just started liking Janet, but she slept with Donovan instead. Jacob felt wronged and thought Donovan was targeting him. He stormed into Donovan's office to confront him.
"Donovan, what do you mean by this? I just started liking Janet, and you slept with her. You already have Chloe and Francis. Are you doing this to spite me?" Jacob yelled.
"Chloe is my ex-wife!" Donovan replied.
Jacob got even angrier. "Do you have something against my family? You married Chloe and then dumped her, kept Francis, gave me money, and then took it back. Now I suspect my mom Amelia's death is related to you! Did you kill my mom?"
In Jacob's eyes, Chloe had no reason to leave the wealthy family unless Donovan divorced her to be with a mistress. Donovan ignored Jacob and called security. As the guards dragged Jacob out, he sent those messages to Chloe, but she didn't reply.
Chloe was increasingly worried about her child and really wanted to see Francis. After much thought, she sent Maya a WhatsApp message: [Maya, how is Francis? Can you send me some pictures of him?]
Maya felt uneasy when she got the message. She knew Chloe missed Francis and understood a mother's heart. But she feared Donovan's reaction. If he found out, he might become even more resolute, and Chloe might never see Francis again. Hence, Maya decided to tell Donovan.
"Mr. Blake, Chloe sent me a message asking about Francis," Maya said, showing him the message.
Donovan looked at the phone and snorted. He saw through Chloe's intentions. She probably thought his recent private life was chaotic and that he had kicked Jacob out, so she thought he was heartless.
"She can see Francis's photos, but she has to give something in return for them," Donovan said, handing the phone back to Maya.
"Give something in return? What does she have to give?" Maya wanted to help Chloe see Francis. Though she thought Chloe's move to Verdania was reckless, Chloe was a mother and had the right to see her child. On the other hand, Donovan's actions were undoubtedly too overbearing!
