Chapter 660 Want to Come Over to My Place for Dinner?
Francis and Jake started school, and one day, the teacher called to say a kid's fancy new cup went missing and was found in Jake's blanket. The teacher didn't make a big fuss, just called Donovan, hoping he'd keep an eye on Jake.
Francis always had Jake's back at school, swearing Jake didn't take it and wondering how it ended up in Jake's bed. Francis was sure Jake had nothing to do with it.
Donovan frowned, feeling a bit annoyed.
Chloe took it upon herself to talk to Jake, saying, "It's wrong to take other people's stuff. If you like something, tell Mom and Dad, and we'll get it for you. Don't take other people's things."
Jake nodded, kind of getting it.
Chloe had accepted the situation. Even though she wasn't fond of the kid, Jake was part of the family now, and it was her responsibility.
Chloe suddenly remembered her missing pearl earring. She was sure she left it on the table, and only she and Donovan were in the room. Donovan wouldn't have touched them, but she didn't ask Jake and kept it to herself. She mentioned it to Donovan that night.
"Really?" Donovan asked.
"Yeah."
"Seems like he has a character issue," Donovan said, brushing it off.
"It's not necessarily a character issue. Maybe he's just too young to understand he shouldn't take other people's things. Besides, Cynthia probably hasn't taught him, and she might not buy him anything. I'll give it a try," Chloe said.
Donovan didn't say anything. His phone buzzed with a message from Jeffery: [Mr. Blake, I'm off the day after tomorrow. I'd like to visit Maya. Is that okay?]
Donovan replied: [Sure.]
Then he told Chloe, "Jeffery is coming to see Maya the day after tomorrow."
"He's coming?" Chloe asked, still a bit nervous about meeting Jeffery.
"Yeah. Tell the maid to prepare lunch for the day after tomorrow. Also, invite your friend over."
"Okay." Chloe thought about setting up Jeffery and Jane, which cheered her up a bit. Everyone loved playing matchmaker.
Chloe didn't forget and told the maid the next day.
Orion eventually bought a house in the Pearl Peak City Rebecca Residential Community.
He bought it purely for investment and didn't plan to live there. After all, buying a house at a 30% discount meant he could make a profit by flipping it, and he knew Pearl Peak City was heavily investing in tourism.
He used Charlotte's identity to buy it, as his own identity was inconvenient.
This was Charlotte's first time at New East Group. At the front desk, she said she was looking for Charles.
"Okay, please wait a moment," the receptionist said and started calling Charles.
"Mr. Wilson will see you now," the receptionist said.
"He got promoted?" Charlotte asked.
"Yes," the receptionist said with a bright smile.
Just then, Donovan came in from outside, saw Charlotte, and asked, "What brings you here?"
"Mr. Blake, my father decided to buy a house in the Rebecca Residential Community, so I'm here to handle the paperwork."
"Looking for Charles?" Donovan's lips curved slightly, almost smiling.
"Yeah."
"Come with me. His office is on the ninth floor," Donovan said, thinking, 'Orion buying a house in the Rebecca Residential Community was the best advertisement for the property. Without even showing up himself, Orion bought it.'
"By the way, tomorrow is Saturday. How about you and Charles come to my place for dinner?" Donovan asked.
