Chapter 357 Mocking Her Bachelor's Degree
At Harmony Plaza, Carol greeted Chloe and Sofia with a warm smile.
Chloe wasn't wearing her usual pearl necklace today, but Carol didn't mention it.
They chatted as they strolled through the plaza.
"See? That's the president of Starlight Productions, and his wife next to him. She's a big deal—invested a ton in real estate and has a PhD from Evergreen University. And over there, that's the female president of Prosperity Capital Partners. Even more impressive, she was a top student at Summit University and built her career all on her own. And there's Marlon Hughes from MediaSphere Studios. His wife doesn't work, but she handles all their money because she has a PhD in finance from a top school. Nothing gets past her when it comes to money. Impressive, right?" Carol said, glancing at Chloe.
Chloe got the hint. Carol had invited her here just to insult her bachelor's degree, like always.
Chloe just smiled, unfazed.
"By the way, you know Matthew, right? His wife Melissa cheated and even stabbed someone, but she got a suspended sentence because she was pregnant."
Chloe nodded, already aware of the story.
"Melissa never went to college. She's clueless," Carol added with disdain.
"Looks like we two undereducated folks don't really fit in here, huh?" Sofia said, catching on to Carol's game. She was mocking their education.
"What?" Carol feigned surprise. "You two? What does this have to do with you?"
She acted clueless, but Chloe squeezed Sofia's hand, signaling her to let it go. Carol was a natural actress. No wonder her family ran a film company.
"Oh, I get it," Carol said, pretending to realize. "You meant you two. No, Chloe is Mr. Blake's woman, very impressive."
The implication was clear: A big shot like Mr. Blake has just an ordinary bachelor's degree holder behind him, ready to be looked down upon.
Sofia had hoped to find some film projects needing game collaborations for Logan, but Carol's attitude killed her interest.
As they left the party, Chloe seemed deep in thought.
"Sofia, I want to go to Verdania for a master's degree. I've always wanted to leave, but I'm afraid Donovan won't agree," Chloe said.
Sofia, who also felt the sting of having a low degree, empathized with Chloe.
"If you have the chance, go for it. We're only in our twenties, the future is long, and who knows if Mr. Blake will change his mind someday," Sofia said, a bit disheartened. "You were supposed to go abroad for a Master's, but the baby delayed you."
"I'm free now, but I'm scared Donovan won't let me. I don't even dare to bring it up."
"I can't decide for you. Think it over." They walked slowly down the street. "Even though Carol's intentions are evil, she's right."
Chloe knew it too.
Just then, a luxury business car pulled up beside them, and someone got out, walking towards them.
Neither Chloe nor Sofia recognized the person, but his presence was intimidating.
