Chapter 294 The Cold and Noble Donovan

"I haven't been in touch with them for a while. Today, Betty, who's Barbara's mom and my aunt, called me and said Grandma Morgan isn't doing well. They've all relocated to Maple Valley, and I'm not sure how they managed to do it so suddenly. I'm a bit concerned."

"Don't worry," Donovan said, not taking it too seriously.

The elevator had already reached the garage. Donovan opened the car door, and the two got in.

"I'm concerned about Barbara, worried I might get caught up in one of her schemes again. But my Grandma Morgan is getting so old, every visit could be our last. I don't have many family members left in this world." After saying this, Chloe suddenly felt a lump in her throat.

She thought again of Grandpa Blake and Amelia's deaths.

"Aren't I considered your family?" Donovan asked Chloe after a moment.

Chloe suddenly lifted her head, glanced at him, and then lowered it again.

"I mean blood relatives."

"Then, in your eyes, am I your family?" Donovan asked again.

Chloe solemnly nodded. "I suppose so."

"Why am I your family?" Donovan was giving Chloe an opportunity, hoping she would now reveal that he was the father of her child.

But Chloe, for some reason, didn't say it.

Her lips opened and closed several times, but in the end, she said nothing.

She feared that if she spoke, she would lose the initiative, and Donovan might not let her go abroad in the future.

"What blood relation do you have with them?" Donovan suddenly said.

With Donovan's words, Chloe suddenly remembered that Amelia had once said she wasn't her biological daughter.

Chloe lowered her head even more, feeling very dejected, only fiddling with her fingers.

She was like a floating weed in the world, not knowing where she came from or where she was going.

"Why bring this up?" Chloe's tone was inevitably aggrieved and very disheartened. "Come with me."

She raised her doe-like eyes, misty with tears, and looked at Donovan.

"Now?" Donovan returned to the main topic and no longer mentioned her background.

"Yes."

The car pulled out of the garage and raced down the road. The address Barbara had provided was a fair distance from the New East Group.

When they reached Grandma Morgan's house, Barbara was already there, appearing quite unhappy. Chloe headed to Grandma Morgan's room, while Donovan stayed in the living room.

Barbara and Betty were both in the living room entertaining Donovan, the distinguished guest.

Today, Donovan's sudden visit made Betty uneasy.

She had never encountered anyone like Donovan before, he was cold and noble, intimidating people from getting close, radiating an aura that quieted everyone around.

"Mr. Blake, have some coffee," Betty said to Donovan.

She was very ingratiating towards Donovan, wishing he were her son-in-law.

"Just leave it," Donovan said, sitting on the sofa, casually flipping through a movie magazine on the couch, speaking succinctly.

As for the coffee, he didn't take a single sip.

This was Chloe's ex-husband. Even though they were divorced, Barbara mentioned that they were still living together and likely thinking of getting married again.

When it came to Barbara, she didn't even have a boyfriend.

The few guys she went on blind dates with in Sunshine Bay City were no match for Donovan, one worse than the next.

How many times had Barbara lost to Chloe from childhood to adulthood? Betty was feeling very resentful.

Daniel had landed a job as a security guard at a large mall in Maple Valley, but he hadn't completed his work yet.

Donovan didn't even look at Barbara, which deeply hurt her. She was already in a bad mood as she had been slapped by Paisley again on the set of "the Aristocrats" today.

Paisley, used to bullying, would slap Barbara at the slightest provocation.

She already hated Paisley to the core.
