Chapter 700 Borrowing Money

Matthew didn't particularly like Barbara; he just thought it would be easy to hook up with a small-time actress by giving her some small favors. However, he didn't expect Barbara to be so difficult. The more challenging she was, the more it ignited Matthew's desire to conquer her. Moreover, he saw Barbara hugging that man on the street, with Chloe following them. It seemed like Chloe knew the man.

After Barbara got in the car, she flipped her hair, implying, 'I already have a boyfriend, so why are you still pursuing me?'

Matthew started the car and saw Chloe and the man getting into Chloe's car through the rearview mirror.

"Your boyfriend?" Matthew asked Barbara indifferently.

"Yeah, sort of. I'm pursuing him, but I haven't succeeded yet," Barbara replied, showing little regard for Matthew.

This was the first time Matthew had encountered such a situation. Money didn't work; nothing worked. She just liked that young man, and she was even the one chasing him without success.

Matthew didn't know if Barbara was playing hard to get, but this tactic was really effective. It seemed like Matthew had fallen for it.

He began to see Barbara in a new light and even felt a bit of a desire to conquer her.

"What do you want for lunch?" Matthew asked Barbara.

"Whatever," Barbara thought to herself, expecting Matthew to ask about Jeffery, but he didn't mention a word about him.

"Whatever, crabs, seafood, anything is fine," Barbara said, deliberately making herself sound greedy and gluttonous, hoping to make Matthew lose interest in her.

She really didn't know what was good for her.

"There's a buffet place that does these well. Do you want to try it?" Matthew asked, his tone completely calm.

"Sure."

Matthew's car stopped in front of a very luxurious buffet restaurant, and he took Barbara inside.

While eating, Barbara deliberately ate in large mouthfuls, trying to disgust Matthew.

But how could Matthew not see through her intentions?

He ate very elegantly and occasionally looked up at Barbara.

"Mr. Parker, can you lend me some money?" Barbara asked, her mouth greasy and looking quite sleazily. "I haven't found any acting gigs recently, and I'm short on cash."

"How much?"

"Five million dollars," Barbara said deliberately, thinking that if Matthew lent her the money, she wouldn't pay it back. If she could get the money, great; if not, it would make Matthew have a bad impression of her, which was even better.

"Alright, I'll write you a check later," Matthew said calmly.

Barbara was stunned for a moment. She raised her hand and showed five fingers. "Mr. Parker, it's five million dollars, not five hundred dollars."

"Would I write a check for five hundred dollars?"

Barbara was stunned, thinking, 'Is Matthew really that rich? Or is he thinking that if he lends me the money, I would be his? What if I take Matthew's money and he becomes even more unscrupulous? If I don't take it, I really can't resist the five million dollars.'

For a moment, Barbara felt uneasy.

The rest of the meal went without incident.

After the meal, he didn't write Barbara a check but took her home and wrote it in front of Betty.

Betty was thrilled to see the series of zeros Matthew wrote after the 5, smiling from ear to ear. On the other hand, Barbara felt even more uneasy.

If she had known, she wouldn't have said that.
