Chapter 81: Where's the Shirt I Bought for You?
Sofia pulled Chloe's hand, trying to calm her down.
Paisley saw this and quickly said to Chloe, "So it's settled then. When should I bring the shirt to you?"
"Hmm..." Chloe said, "If you bring it to the company, there's a high chance I'll run into him. He'll know I didn't buy the shirt for him and will get angry. How about you bring it to my dormitory tonight?"
"Alright. It's settled then," Paisley said and left.
"You're so foolish. She tricks you over and over again, and you fall for it every time," Sofia said. "I pinched your hand, but you didn't pay attention to me. If Mr. Blake kicks you out again, I won't take you in."
"How could I be so easily fooled? Don't I know her intentions? Let's go back. We saved the money for buying the shirt tonight," Chloe said happily, with a slightly smug expression on her face.
Sofia was in a daze and had no idea what Chloe was thinking.
Chloe had a good sleep at night without anyone bothering her. She slept for ten hours consecutively and felt refreshed when she went to work the next day.
Not long after starting work, someone knocked on her office desk.
Chloe looked up and saw Donovan standing there.
Reflexively, she stood up from her chair and said, "Mr. Blake."
This was Donovan's first time coming to the finance department.
Everyone in the office inexplicably became nervous. Although they all seemed to be working diligently, they were full of curiosity about Donovan's visit. They held their breath and listened to Chloe and Donovan's conversation.
"Where's the shirt that you're supposed to buy for me?" Donovan frowned and looked at Chloe.
"Huh?" Chloe thought, I didn't not even go home,, why is he asking about the shirt at the office? "I went to New East Group mall last night and picked through it for the entire night, but couldn't find one that suited you. I'll try again tonight."
"Don't play tricks." Donovan frowned.
"What tricks am I playing? I just have to pick a suitable shirt for you, right?" Chloe defended herself anxiously.
"You won't go home if you can't find one?"
"That's what it means, right? The villa is so far from the New East Group mall," Chloe complained.
"Is it more comfortable in the dormitory than at home?" he asked her.
The more Chloe listened to his words, the more she felt something was off. "Comfortable"? What was he referring to?
She looked Donovan up and down, noticing that he was wearing a black shirt today. He looked so handsome, with a well-built and muscular body, quite charming.
"Hurry up!" After saying that, Donovan left.
Just now, Donovan happened to glance at Chloe's desk and saw a book titled "CPA and Life."
She no longer took the book home, but instead read it during work breaks, stealthily.
The people in the office were puzzled, wondering if Mr. Blake came to urge Chloe to quickly buy him clothes or to urge her to go home. But the fact that Mr. Blake came to the finance department in person was enough to show that something was abnormal.
Everyone recommended shirt links to Chloe, but she just said "thank you" and didn't pursue it further.
She had her own ideas.
Chloe didn't go home in the afternoon either. She deliberately sent Donovan a message on WhatsApp: "Honey, let's continue picking clothes tonight."
"Should I thank you for being so concerned about me?" Donovan replied, mocking her.
Originally, he only intended for her to stay in the dorms for one day.
Now it seemed like it would never end, a feeling of endless trouble.
Chloe just sent a smiling face.
At 8 o'clock in the evening, Paisley's shirts were delivered. They were sent by someone else and Chloe didn't personally show up.
There were three shirts: one black, one dark blue, and one gray, all colors that Donovan usually wore. She knew Donovan very well.
Chloe and Sofia carefully observed these shirts and found that behind each shirt, there were three letters written as a trademark: Don.
It should be an abbreviation for "Donovan."
"Where is the tailor shop?" Chloe said.
"It's right behind our dorm, HS Tailor, an old shop that has been around since the establishment of the country," Sofia said. "What do you want to do?"
"Let's go," Chloe said, and then she took Sofia and the three shirts out of the door.
She asked the master at HS Tailor to make three shirts exactly the same as the ones she brought, but she wanted to change the trademark and not have it say Don.
The master said it would take ten days and the fabric might not be exactly the same, but it would look identical.
"Just looking identical is fine."
After Paisley delivered the suits, she sent Donovan a WhatsApp message: "Donovan, when I was in Dubai last time, I ordered three shirts for you. When Chloe was going to buy shirts for you, I told her there was no need to buy them because I gave her the shirts. She also wanted to save some money."
Donovan was irritated when he saw the message.
And then Chloe sent another WhatsApp message, saying that she would stay in the dorm for ten days.
Donovan suppressed his anger and agreed.
He wanted to see what tricks Chloe would play.
ForDuring these ten days, Chloe was pampered. Not only did they go out to eat every day with Sofia, but they also watched TV shows together at night. Together, they delved into Brayden's book "CPA and Life," gaining insight into the world of certified public accountants.
And during those ten days, the auditing department on the top floor began recruiting.
Occasionally, Chloe would see the high-end elites going up to the top floor for interviews, and her mood would instantly plummet as she thought about her unfinished dream of becoming a certified accountant.
