Chapter 77 Completely Angering Donovan

James went downstairs to eat, and at first glance, he saw Chloe and Ann across from him.

He frowned.

The establishment of the Audit Department in New East Group was not good news for James. Most of the functions of the Finance Department would be transferred to the Audit Department, which meant that he, as the Finance Director, would be undermined.

With Chloe's identity as "Mrs. Blake," she would definitely be transferred to the Audit Department. The nightmare that he had been worried about, of Chloe surpassing him, was finally coming true.

He didn't want Chloe to go to the Audit Department, especially since Chloe knew a lot about the Finance Department. In the future, when it came to audits, he wouldn't have the upper hand.

He knew Ann. When he was young, he had a romantic involvement with Ann.

James wanted to find Mr. Blake, wanting him to know that Chloe was currently talking to Ann.

As a finance personnel, being together with an accountant from another CPA firm, even if Chloe had no ulterior motives, would definitely arouse Donovan's suspicion towards her.

Just as he was about to get on the elevator, he coincidentally ran into Donovan, who was coming down with his assistant.

"Mr. Blake," James politely greeted.

"Hmm," Donovan replied, only giving a slight acknowledgment as he was heading for lunch.

"Oh, by the way, Mr. Blake, I want to take the afternoon off today. I bumped into an old classmate, and she happened to be having a chat with Chloe at the café across the street. If you need anything, you can reach me on my cell phone," James said.

"Hmm," Donovan furrowed his brows slightly, thinking to himself, "Chloe knows James's classmate?"

A director-level employee like James didn't need to ask for time off unless it was necessary, so he must have mentioned it on purpose because of the fortuitous encounter.

As they exited New East Group, Donovan's gaze naturally gravitated towards the café across the street.

Sure enough, Chloe was conversing with an elegant lady.

"Who's that person? Do you know?" Donovan asked his assistant.

"Ann?" the assistant responded to Donovan, "She's a partner at South Central accounting firm."

Knowing the leaders of most companies was part of the assistant's job.

Donovan's face instantly darkened again. If he remembered correctly, South Central accounting firm belonged to Brayden. There was no need to ask; the reason why Ann was talking to Chloe was to let her become familiar with the future work environment.

Chloe's planning for her future was really exceptional. She had both hands busy, applying for positions at both Brayden's company and the Audit Department. Even if one side didn't work out, she had the other as a backup!

"You go ahead and eat," Donovan said, then he went back upstairs to get his car keys.

Since Chloe wanted to have her foot in both camps, he would let her experience the feeling of failure.

Donovan made a phone call to the human resources department, instructing them to pass on Chloe's resume.

"But, Mr. Blake, Chloe's resume was translated by you," reminded Winslow from the human resources department. In other words, by signing Ethan's name on the back of the resume, it implied that Chloe should be allowed to take the written test.

"Pass on it," Donovan did not explain further.

Winslow thought to himself: has Chloe offended Mr. Blake again? Clearly, she can never handle the outcome and always ends up offending others.

"Alright, Mr. Blake."

Donovan made another phone call to Dylan, "What is your son's phone number?"

Dylan, barely able to catch his breath, said, "My son? How did he offend Mr. Blake again?"

"Tell me his mobile number."

"If my son offended Mr. Blake in any way, I will compensate in advance. But Mr. Blake, you need to calm down."

"Mobile number!" Donovan couldn't stand the other party's rambling and gave a final ultimatum.

Dylan gave the number, and when he tried to quickly call Brayden, he found Brayden's phone was busy.

"Where is he?" Donovan asked Brayden on the phone.

He had given Chloe a chance and discreetly set up an audit department to address office gossip to keep Chloe. He even translated her resume himself. Yet, Chloe showed no appreciation and still wanted to switch jobs.

This thoroughly angered Donovan.

"I am in my office. Is there something, Mr. Blake?"

"No, I will find you." Donovan said disdainfully.
