Chapter 356 Do You Need to Dress Up So Nicely?
After dinner, Donovan was still downstairs playing with Francis. Chloe went back to her room alone, turned on her computer, and searched for job openings at New East Group.
She actually found some.
New East Group was a big company, and there were job postings on their official website and various major job sites.
The audit department was hiring ten auditors this year, requiring a master's degree or higher, over ten years of work experience, an auditor's certificate, and experience in auditing large projects.
Chloe felt hopeless completely.
When she initially submitted her resume to the audit department for Mario, she was somewhat bold, and at that time, she hadn't even passed her auditor's exam. She was just hoping to get an assistant position.
Now, with the Gordon couple at home, Chloe felt all sorts of discomfort and wanted to take this opportunity to go to Verdania.
The whole evening, Chloe was somewhat distracted.
She looked so absent-minded that when Donovan came back to the room and saw her dazed look, he couldn't help but ask, "Who makes you so distracted?"
"You," Chloe said casually.
"Me?" Donovan smiled. Clearly, he didn't believe it.
"Who else would I be thinking about besides you?"
Donovan sat down next to Chloe, his lips landing on her cheek. "Are you thinking about me, or a specific part of my body?"
He always spoke to Chloe so blatantly, sometimes making her feel very shy, but he never restrained himself and even intensified it.
"That part!" Chloe's hand reached for him. "I want to squeeze it until it bursts!"
Donovan then whispered in her ear, "If it bursts, it won't work anymore. It won't stop us from having kids, but it would be tough on you!"
Chloe immediately stepped on his foot. "Piss off!"
The next afternoon, Chloe stood in front of the dressing mirror, looking at herself in a black strapless dress that could serve as both formal wear and casual wear, without being too conspicuous.
She even put on light makeup.
Donovan sat on the sofa behind her, one leg crossed over the other, his hand on his chin, watching her from behind.
"Does it look good?" she asked.
"Do you need to dress up so nicely to go out with Sofia?" Donovan's eyes showed a hint of displeasure.
"I'm not dressing up for her."
"Then who are you dressing up for?" Donovan asked persistently.
"I'm not dressing up for anyone. I just want to look nice and change my mood. I'm leaving now." With that, Chloe picked up her bag and left.
Maybe Chloe, not working and cooped up at home for too long, needed to get some fresh air outside.
As she walked through the living room, she saw Clara holding Francis, trying to soothe him, and Gordon coming out of a room in the back.
Chloe greeted them and then left.
Clara saw Donovan coming downstairs and said to him, "Donovan, is Chloe going out?"
"Yes," Donovan replied.
Clara said nothing more.
Chloe first went to the courier service to send the pearl necklace to Barbara. She remembered Betty saying that they were still living in the house that had caught fire. The insurance company had compensated the landlord a lot of money, and the landlord had reduced Barbara's family's rent.
After sending the package, she picked up Sofia from the New East Group dormitory, and hailed a taxi towards Harmony Plaza.
"Chloe, I heard from Logan that Mr. Blake's parents are here and staying with you. Are you okay? Many women get depressed in such situations. And then there's your mom's issue. When will they leave?" Sofia complained.
"I don't know. Clara is diligent every day. I don't dare to say a harsh word, and Donovan, as her son, can't say anything either. She has a grandson now. How can we not let her see him but drive her away? Does that make sense?" Chloe said, "We're going to a movie company dinner today. See if you can get Logan's game featured in their movie. I doubt if it's possible, but let's see."
Sofia nodded earnestly.
