Chapter 583: She Seems to Be Pregnant
Derek stayed at Chloe's house for a few days before returning to Emerald Isle. Chloe took Paula out for a walk every day.
"Mom, this is Maple Valley. You've been here before," Chloe spoke. "Maybe it's changed so much that you don't recognize it now."
Paula just looked quietly and didn't say much. She was also extremely quiet at home.
Paula's arrival at Aurora Isle settled a major concern in Chloe's heart, but seeing Paula's blank and dazed look made Chloe feel heartbroken.
New East Group held another meeting, and Donovan still scheduled it for Saturday.
Chloe knew exactly what he was thinking: Cynthia usually had classes at school, and only came on weekends, making Chloe feel awkward.
Chloe routinely asked Nicole for leave.
[Nicole, I haven't been feeling great lately, and I’d like to take some time off.] Chloe texted.
[Chloe, I just talked to Mr. Blake. He said there are only a few meetings left for the Rebecca Residential Community project, and he asked you to stick it out.] Nicole replied.
This time, Chloe would put on a show for Donovan!
Chloe wore her usual flat shoes and went to the meeting room.
Donovan sat in the chairman's seat.
Throughout the meeting, Chloe appeared listless, resting her chin on her hand while watching the slides. She didn't speak unless absolutely necessary.
Until Donovan's phone rang.
"Coming home for dinner? Okay, I'll be done with the meeting soon." His voice was incredibly gentle.
Chloe didn't need him to say it;, she already knew exactly who Donovan was talking to.
Just as Mario was explaining new content, Chloe couldn't hold it in and suddenly felt nauseous. She quickly covered her mouth and ran out.
Instantly, the entire meeting room fell silent.
Donovan's face darkened.
Chloe seemed to be pregnant!
After Chloe left, Nicole sent a WhatsApp message to Donovan: [Mr. Blake, Chloe said she wasn't feeling well and went home to rest. She asked me to pack up her things for the next meeting.]
[How long has Chloe been like this?] Donovan asked Nicole, frowning.

Donovan gritted his teeth tightly.
The meeting didn't end until two hours later, and Charles kept watching Donovan's face.
When everyone had left, Charles tentatively called out, "Donovan."
"What?" Donovan's face remained dark.
"I think Chloe might be pregnant. What do you think?"
Donovan's frown deepened, and he stayed silent.
"Pack up her things," Donovan instructed Nicole.
Nicole had already packed up and handed the items to Donovan: a laptop, notebook, pen, and other things.
Donovan took these items, went downstairs, got in his car, and headed straight to Chloe's house.
After the meeting, Chloe noticed that a well-known film critic was giving a lecture in the school auditorium.
Chloe thought for a moment and took Paula along, remembering how much of a sensation Paula had been back in the day.
The two of them sat in the back row.
The students at the school were younger than Chloe. During the time when Paula was famous, most of them hadn't been born yet, and information wasn't as widespread back then, so most people didn't recognize Paula.
The two of them watched quietly.
The expert talked about the history of modern cinema, and coincidentally mentioned "Green River," starring Paula and Fred. He noted how the movie blended suspense and romance, highlighting its strong script
As a result, the big screen continuously displayed large posters of Paula and Fred.
