Chapter 370 Focus on Study

In the evening, at Donovan's bedroom.

"Did you tell Chloe about Janet coming over?" Donovan asked Maya as he sat on the couch with one leg crossed.

"Janet?" Maya looked confused. "Who's Janet?"

"You didn't tell her?" Donovan asked again.

"Her? Who's that?" Maya was even more puzzled. "Mr. Blake, can you clarify? I have no idea what you're talking about."

Donovan stared at Maya for a moment, then said, "You can go now."

As Maya reached the door, Donovan suddenly asked, "By the way, how did your son do on his exams?"

"Oh." Maya's face lit up. "He got accepted to Pearl Peak City University for finance. He's still working part-time."

Seeing her happy expression, Donovan knew she wasn't faking her confusion.

"You can go," he said curtly.

Meanwhile, Chloe in Verdania got the approval to switch to the fall semester, meaning she'd start school in a few days.

She focused on preparing school materials and "memorizing financial terms," temporarily forgetting about Donovan.

A few days later, Chloe started school.

At the beginning of the semester, Chloe was busy. Despite preparing for tough courses and learning enough Verdanian language, she still found the classes hard to understand. Sometimes, she couldn't grasp the teachers' terminology or find the information in the books. She felt like the most clueless person in the world.

The more one learned, the more one realized their ignorance.

If Chloe had stayed in Maple Valley, she might have remained complacent and ignorant.

Now, although anxious, Chloe was excited because she recognized her shortcomings.

As for the man in the black suit who wanted to harm her, there had been no movement from him, so Chloe gradually became less fearful.

Finance was tough. Every time Chloe learned something new, she felt fulfilled. The emotions she had felt back in Maple Valley and Donovan's scandals no longer occupied her mind as much.

Chloe went to the library often, knowing her knowledge base was lacking. She even took books to the cafeteria while eating, becoming very diligent.

One day, Chloe was walking from the classroom building to her dorm with a book in hand.

She saw a woman searching for something on the school's lawn. The woman looked like she was from Aurora Isle.

"What are you looking for?" Chloe asked.

The woman looked up, anxious. "My purse."

Chloe scrutinized her. She had fine, soft hair, gentle features, and kind eyes. She was quite pretty. Chloe thought, 'She looks familiar.'

"Are you from Aurora Isle?" Chloe asked.

"Yes, I'm a visiting scholar from Pearl Peak City University. My name is Cynthia. Nice to meet you." Cynthia extended her hand.
