Chapter 117: He Threw Away the Tie
Chloe had been experiencing discomfort due to her menstrual cycle these past few days, so she planned to go back to her dormitory early after work. As she left the company, she saw Jacob waiting by the entrance.
"WSis, why didn't you go home with Donovan today? I just saw him leaving just now," Jacob asked Chloe.
"I've been staying in the dormitory these past few days," Chloe replied.
Jacob thought to himself,: 'They must have had a falling outargued; otherwise, she wouldn't be staying in the dormitory.' He thought aboutpondered how he could further ruin deteriorate Chloe and Donovan's relationship and get them , making them eventually get divorced. He had already successfully provoked Donovan's anger earlier, so he should also try to persuade work on Chloe more.
After Donovan got in the car, his anger continued to smolder inside him. He lit a cigarette and started smoking in the car. He knew Chloe would never dare to go on a date with Brayden, and he also knew that there might have been a chance encounter between them at the mall. Jacob wouldn't make up such a baseless and low-level lie.
But Brayden did givehad him a referenced for thhise tie, so it should must be true. It was thea gift he promised Chloe had promised him after he had agreeding to raise her salary. With thatese thoughts in mind, Donovan ripped off the tie and threw it out the car window before speeding away.
OriginallyH, he had originally planned to pick up Chloe and take her home today.
He even had Maya Hall stew bird's nest and ginger sugar water for Chloe.
A cleaning lady found a tie and recognizedrealized it was in it as Donovan's parking spot. The tie was very new, so the lady asked someone to give it to Chloe.
Chloe was puzzled when she saw the tie. How could the tie that she was wearing have fallen off?
She called Donovan.
Donovan was driving home at the time.
"Why did you lose your tie?" Chloe asked, sounding confused.
Donovan coldly asked her, "Is thatis the tie you and Brayden picked out for me?"
Chloe remained silent for a moment, wondering how he knew.
"I happened to run into him at the emerging mall that day.," Chloe tried to explain.
"There’s nNo need to say anything," Donovan said and hung up the phone.
He was angry. Right after he had put Brayden in his place, Chloe was seenhad pickeding out ties with Brayden again. It meant that Chloe didn't hadn't distanced herself from Brayden even after he kneeled in front of Donovan. In fact, she seemed to sympathize with Brayden.
Sympathy, such anwhat a delicate emotion!
Donovan clenched his fists tightly.
Chloe felt frustrated and helpless, thinking to herself that it seemed like the tie wasn't hadn’t been dropped but. Rrather, it hadn’t been thrown away by Donovan himself. It was similar to the incident when he had throewn Brayden's shirt out of the car.
Originally, Chloe wanted to go back today, but snow he was angry again now.
It seemed like shehe would have to postpone her is return for a few days.
Back in the dorm, Chloe sat alone in heris room, sulking.
Sofia came over with a bowl of ginger sugar water, saying, "Drink this."
Chloe felt even more suffocated Seeing when she saw Sofia bringing her the ginger sugar water, Chloe felt even more suffocated. ShHe had never been taken care of like this before.
Of course, why would he care about her? She was just Paisley's substitute.
After Ellie left the company, she saw Jacob, who was lost in thought.
Ellie was carrying a Chanel handbag.
Jacob haddidn't known much anything about bags before. T, or rather, didn't know at all. Thanks to Karen, he now knew all the brands but couldn'’t afford to buy any of them.
"I'll give you a ride home, Mr. Roberts," Jacob said politely after giving Ellie a book.
Jacob was, after all, Brayden's man. Ellie loved Killian, so she naturally wanted to find out some information about Brayden from Jacob.
"Sure, thank you," Ellie said.
"How is Chloe doing at work?" Jacob asked Ellie once they got in the car.
"Do you know Chloe?" Ellie was clearly very surprised.
"Chloe is my sister, and I had a lot of conflicts with her. Ever since we were young, our parents only doted on her and not me. They showered her with love and attention while I had a very low sense of existence in our familyand acted like I didn’t exist. When it came to cooking, my mom would only make Chloe's favorite dishes. When it came to parent-teacher conferences, my mom would attend Chloe's but not mine. When it came to money, Chloe would be given priority. Our family wasn't exactly wealthy, but we managed. Chloe hasd never known any worries when it came to food and clothing, while I grew up in this kind ofa household where my parents didn't give me anything. It was difficult not to have biases againstfeel resentful toward her. And now, things have changed. Our dDad passed away, and my mom is in a vegetative state," Jacob sincerely spoke thoese words with anger flickering in his eyes.
Chloe took had taken everything away from him.
Ellie knew that unfortunate people would spend their whole lives trying to heal.
"Now, I want to take revenge on my sister, but I need you to work with mer cooperation. What do you think?" Jacob said.
Jacob knew that Ellie liked Brayden and presumably held a grudge against Chloe as well. The enemy of an enemy is a friend, after all.
"Alright, but how should we do it?" Ellie frowned slightly.
She had hated Chloe for a long time. Chloe took had taken away her position, gotten higher scores in financial law, and shattered her dream of working in the auditing department. And now, Chloe was pressuring her in the finance department.
"We'll focus on your bag." Jacob told Ellie about his plan.
Jacob and Ellie didn't have much of a relationship, but Jacob's desire to tear Chloe and Donovan apart remained unchanged. And Ellie's desire for revenge had also never wavered.
