Chapter 97: Besides You, Who Else?
During breakfast, Chloe couldn't stop yawning, feeling extremely tired.
Her grandpa laughed and asked, "Youthful indeed. What time did you go to bed last night?"
Chloe blushed, her face turning red. "Grandpa~~"
"Alright, grandpa won't ask anymore." Grandpa laughed happily.
Chloe secretly glanced at Donovan, who was eating expressionlessly the whole time.
It seemed like he had no connection to Chloe being so tired.
He was a beast at night and turned into a gentleman during the day - a true wolf in sheep's clothing.
"But it's already Friday. If you make it through today, no one will bother you on Saturday and Sunday." Grandpa said.
Thinking of this, Chloe felt excited. She looked outside for a moment, and the weather was particularly bad, probably about to rain.
"When you go out later, remember to bring an umbrella," Chloe reminded Donovan with concern.
"I know," Donovan replied calmly.
Chloe got into Donovan's car and immediately fell asleep, sleeping all the way until they arrived at the company's entrance.
Just as she arrived at the office and started getting things ready, she received a WhatsApp message from Sofia: [Chloe, do you have time tomorrow? If you do, can you accompany me to my sister's house?]
[Tomorrow morning, I might go see my mom. Can we meet in the afternoon?]
[Sure, it's in the afternoon. They invited me for dinner.]
Chloe responded with an "ok" gesture.
As she opened her computer, she thought, something doesn't seem right. Sofia's sister's house is Logan's house. Sofia mentioned before that her sister's family lives in a big flat of over 200 square meters, and they all live together. Could it be that Sofia's visit to her sister is a ruse, and she's actually going to see Logan?
But Chloe was very busy today, now that she was a financial manager, there was more work than before. She was still a responsible person, working diligently. She didn't have time to chat with Sofia at the moment.
The training for the "New East Group Stars" was moved to Friday again, and this time Donovan was the instructor. It had been a month and a half since his last lecture.
Chloe and Sofia sat in the second row.
Donovan walked energetically to the podium, which surprised Chloe. He never seemed tired, with no trace of fatigue on his face. His eyes seemed to see everything that everyone was doing.
Chloe struggled to stay awake all day, feeling exhausted. Even though Donovan's lecture was fascinating, she couldn't help but feel sleepy.
Sofia was afraid that Chloe would fall asleep, so she nudged her.
She also passed a note to Chloe, which depicted visiting someone's house, reminding her not to forget their engagement tomorrow afternoon.
Chloe couldn't help but chuckle at the comical drawing. It dispelled most of her sleepiness.
Her lips couldn't help but curl up.
To show her gratitude for Sofia keeping her awake, Chloe drew a heart below and wrote, "Love you!" Then she passed it back to Sofia.
When she looked up, ready to continue listening to the lecture, she realized that Donovan had already come down from the podium. He had been quietly teaching while walking towards Chloe's seat.
Chloe wondered, "Why does Donovan, who never leaves the podium during lectures, want to do this time?"
Then, Donovan took the note from Sofia's hand, looked at its contents, and stopped lecturing...
The entire classroom fell silent.
He looked up, facing Chloe and asked, "Whom do you love?"
"Huh?" Chloe finally came back to her senses. She had been caught daydreaming in class, and in a situation like this, she and Sofia might have to stand outside the door. After all, she was now a respectable financial manager.
In a panic, Chloe made a gesture: she pointed at herself, made a heart shape with her hands, and then pointed at Donovan.
"Besides you, who else?" Chloe said innocently and slightly aggrieved.
Donovan remained silent for a moment, then continued lecturing while holding the small note.
Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. Disaster averted.
Sofia had been frightened out of her wits just now, but luckily Chloe reacted quickly.
However, in the eyes of their other colleagues, Chloe openly displaying affection with Mr. Blake in front of everyone was quite something.
It was an opportunity for public displays of affection, and she didn't hold back.
Everyone remembered Chloe's words, "Besides you, who else?"
