Chapter 253 Her Ex-Husband Is Quite Capable
Chloe kept the news of her expecting boy-girl twins to herself when she returned home.
When Maya asked about the children, she simply replied, "Healthy."
Afterward, Chloe threw herself into the accounting work with all her energy.
By the end of the year, she completed the accounts and submitted them to Green Earth Solutions Company and Elevate Structures Group.
This time, Sharon took a new look at Chloe and couldn't help but praise her. "I didn't expect your work to be so meticulous. I underestimated you."
Chloe smiled contentedly. "You're welcome."
"I'll be contacting you for future work." Sharon was genuinely impressed this time.
Chloe said, "Sure, I'm at your service. Let me add your WhatsApp account."
Mr. Lewis was surprised by Chloe's positive attitude, flexibility, amiability, and strong business acumen.
Previously, Chloe had informed Brayden about the project's progress, and Brayden praised Chloe in the group chat.

Colleagues started sending clapping emojis.
One of the colleagues: [Indeed, she would not become our vice president if she is not so capable.]
Almost all colleagues, except for Carol, spoke up.
Of course, their comments were all in praise.
In a private chat, Brayden said to Chloe: [The company will be holding its annual meeting at Vine Crest Estates before the New Year. As the vice president, you should come along since you haven't met these colleagues yet. I'll pick you up when the time comes.]
Chloe replied: [Okay.]
Completing After completing these two projects, Chloe finally felt a sense of relief.
This was all done to prove to her colleagues that, despite being an undergraduate, she possessed notable capabilities.
Her next goal was to study abroad for her postgraduate degree.
September to January was the best time to apply for enrollment. Chloe had already taken the GRE, and Chloe had already prepared the necessary documents from her undergraduate stage. In addition to these, she needed a personal statement, which she had a document coach she met named Wade Grant while studying pre-degree courses abroad to help her write.
With all preparations in place, she applied for a master's degree program that would start in January next year. Once she received the offer, she could go to Verdania.
After all these tasks were completed, Chloe could truly say she had wrapped up her work for the year.
The First Accounting Firm's annual meeting was scheduled for January 25th.
During breakfast, Chloe said to Donovan, "Our firm is having its annual meeting today. Brayden will be picking me up."
"Maya will come along," Donovan responded expressionlessly.
"Sure," Chloe agreed cheerfully.
As Donovan went downstairs, he saw Brayden's car parked outside. Brayden noticed him, too. Without a word exchanged between them, Donovan drove off.
Chloe and Maya went downstairs and got into Brayden's car.
"Chloe, the company will be having a raffle today. What would you like to win?" Brayden asked Chloe.
After some thought, Chloe couldn't decide and replied, "I have no specific preferences. Anything is fine."
Vine Crest Estates was a bit far off, and by the time they arrived at the winery, it was already 10 o'clock.
The First Accounting Firm rented an entire floor. The lobby was full of streamers, various drinks, and food, giving it quite a New Year's vibe.
Brayden introduced Chloe, specifically praising her for bringing in numerous orders for the company and handling two orders alone, which was impressive.
Colleagues finally got to know Chloe, who appeared very young despite being pregnant. Maya was by her side all the while.
During the raffle, Chloe was quite unlucky and only won the fifth prize.
Trips abroad, cash rewards, and other prizes were not hers at all.
She was just a consolation prize winner.
"Maya, it's the fifth prize. Probably two movie tickets. How about we go watch a movie after the annual meeting?" Chloe joked with Maya.
"Just take it as a way to unwind," Maya replied, in good spirits at the annual meeting.
As Brayden personally handed the fifth prize to Chloe, it was surprisingly a pair of intricately carved male and female wooden dolls.
Upon seeing these dolls, joy immediately filled Chloe's face. The boy doll was charmingly handsome, while the girl doll was beautifully enchanting.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the hall, Brayden leaned close to Chloe, whispering in her ear, "A pair of twins, do you like them?"
"I love them. Thank you," Chloe replied with a smile.
Brayden said, "Don't mention it. I hope your babies turn out as healthy and beautiful as these two dolls."
Chloe held the two dolls, her fondness growing. Unbeknownst to both Chloe and Brayden, a colleague took a picture of Chloe smiling with the dolls in hand and Brayden speaking into her ear.
After lunch, Chloe went to the restroom with Maya by her side.
While in the restroom, Chloe overheard a conversation from the neighboring stall.
Someone spoke up, "Whose babies are in her belly, after all?"
The other one replied, "I don't know. It would be great not to know. Both men are trying to please her. Did you see how happy she was when Mr. Perez gave her the dolls? She's just an undergraduate, a year younger than me, and she's already a vice president, all thanks to her relationship with Mr. Perez! Also, I heard she secured those orders based on her ex-husband's influence. Her ex-husband is quite capable. Otherwise, Mr. Lewis from Elevate Structures Group wouldn't have collaborated with her. Nowadays, for a woman to succeed, it's either through family connections or through men. Chloereliant on two men."
Hearing these comments left Chloe feeling embarrassed. She knew that these two people were likely representing the opinions of most colleagues towards her.
This only strengthened her determination to pursue her postgraduate studies abroad.
She had initially thought that gossip would be minimal at a prestigious firm like theirs, but it seemed no different from the New East Group's Finance Department.
As two colleagues exited the restroom and saw Maya waiting by the door, they quickly left, whispering to each other.
Chloe suspected that one of them must have been Carol.
