Chapter 573 Didn't You Ask What Chloe Did on Emerald Isle?
A bitter smile of frustration crept onto Chloe’s lips, likely mocking Donovan's hasty decision.
Chloe was currently at odds with Donovan, a stark contrast to the days following Amelia's passing. Back then, Chloe believed Donovan had killed her only relative. During her early days in Verdania and on the Emerald Isle, Chloe was tormented by Pamela, unable to see or hear from Donovan. This repression weighed heavily on her heart, creating an intense sense of lovesickness which she tried to transform into a defiant bitterness. Chloe felt as if the world would end tomorrow, often bursting into tears without reason, ultimately sinking into depression.
But now things were different. Chloe was in Maple Valley, still working under Donovan. She could see him anytime she wanted, and if she was unhappy, she could just yell at him. Chloe had basically returned to the state she was in right after marrying Donovan.
The difference was, back then, Chloe didn't know what the future held and thought she would eventually part ways with Donovan. Now, she was certain she held a place in Donovan's heart; otherwise, he wouldn't have waited for her for three years. As for this time, it might just be a fit of pique!
Even though Chloe was still confused and didn't understand what wasgoing on.Chloe had decided that this time, she wouldn't let Donovan off easily.
"Cynthia," Chloe replied to Jane.
"Donovan married Cynthia?" Jane's eyes widened.
"Is Donovan out of his mind? I'm going to find him." With that, Jane turned around. "You can't stay in the hillside villa anymore. How am I supposed to get close to Maya now? It's all a chain reaction."
Chloe was very speechless; Jane was too realistic and didn't understand her at all.
Jane quickly went to the Blake mansion.
Donovan happened to be home.
"Donovan, when Chloe was in Pearl Peak City, you kept running to the school. Now, Chloe goes to Emerald Isle and comes back to find you married to someone else? You jerk!" Jane said indignantly.
Chloe and Sofia was afraid of Donovan,but Jane wasn't.
Donovan glanced up, "Did Chloe send you?"
Jane said, "Chloe isn't that tasteless. She's drinking alone at home. I couldn't stand it."
"Then did you ask Chloe what she did in Emerald Isle?" Donovan asked again.
Jane thought,' Did Chloe get caught sleeping with another man in Emerald Isle? Why didn't Chloe cover her tracks? If Donovan caught her in the act, Jane really couldn't help Chloe. Men hate that the most, especially someone as prominent as Donovan, for whom face is so important.'
Jane's voice gradually lower; she suddenly saw Maya holding her lower abdomen as she walked into the kitchen. Then she asked to ease her own awkwardness. "What's wrong with Maya?"
Donovan hadn't noticed Maya's discomfort. But seeing Jane so proactive, he knew her real intention wasn't here.
"My stomach hurts a bit," Maya said, sitting on the sofa.
"Take the afternoon off. I'll watch the kids," Donovan told Maya.
Jane gave Donovan a look and pressed Maya's stomach, "Does it hurt here?"
Maya cried out, "It hurts a lot."
"It's probably a gynecological issue. I'll take you to the hospital," Jane said, helping Maya up.
Without even saying "goodbye" to Donovan, Jane walked out of the hillside villa, escaping the awkward situation Donovan had put her in.
