Chapter 340 Gave Birth to a Boy
Chloe was feeling extremely unwell.
She called Susan.
"Where are you?" Chloe asked, sweat dripping from her forehead.
"Mrs. Blake, I'm stuck in traffic. Can you walk to the park entrance? Cars aren't allowed inside the park," Susan said.
"But I..." Chloe tried to stand up, but her stomach hurt so much that she couldn't.
"What's wrong?" Susan could tell Chloe wasn't well and asked anxiously, "I'll call Mr. Blake. Hold on."
After hanging up with Chloe, Susan called Donovan.
"Mr. Blake, Mrs. Blake is at Maple Valley Park. She's in bad shape and can't even speak."
Donovan's Adam's apple bobbed. "I know, I'm on my way there."
He thought Chloe might have wanted to go for a walk.
The only place he could think of for a walk was Maple Valley Park.
He was almost there now.
Chloe's face was pale, and she even wanted to curl up to ease the pain.
A cleaning lady saw that Chloe wasn't doing well.
"Ma'am, do you need any help?" she asked.
"Please... please help me out of the park. My family... my family is waiting outside."
"Are you about to give birth?" The lady saw that Chloe's pants were wet, likely from her water breaking.
"How could this be?" Chloe panicked, as she was still a month away from her due date.
A few days ago, she thought she was in a good mood and that nothing like this would happen.
Even though Lori had mentioned Donovan and Paisley, it wasn't enough to cause Chloe to go into early labor.
It was Barbara's words that became the final straw for Chloe.
Chloe clenched her fists.
Using all her strength, Chloe walked to the park entrance.
Just then, Donovan's car arrived.
"Sir, your wife is about to give birth. Get her to the hospital quickly."
Donovan frowned deeply. Chloe was still far from her due date, and this was premature labor.
He quickly helped the pale-faced Chloe into the car.
The car sped towards Jane's Maternity Hospital.
On the way, he called Maya to meet them at Maple Valley Hospital.
Chloe was in the back seat, curled up and moaning.
Donovan wanted to explain, but the words never came out.
The car sped along the road.
At the maternity hospital, Jane quickly took Chloe into the delivery room.
Donovan followed, afraid something might happen to Chloe.
Because Chloe had been doing yoga, which helps with natural childbirth, one of the babies' heads was already visible.
Chloe felt immense pain as if she were about to die. She even wished the devil would drag her to hell, never to return.
The first baby finally came out; it was a boy.
"Time of birth, 3:38 PM," the nurse said.
She brought the baby over for Chloe to see, but Chloe's eyes were unfocused, and she couldn't tell if the baby was a boy or a girl, nor did she see the baby's face clearly.
Donovan didn't have the heart to look either.
A midwife detected that the other baby's heartbeat was weak and reported it to Jane.
If they forced a natural birth, Chloe risked severe bleeding.
Chloe was already exhausted, on the verge of fainting, her head covered in sweat.
Even if she wanted a natural birth, it wasn't possible.
"Prepare for a C-section for the second baby," Jane said decisively to the nurse as she put on her gloves, "The delay could cause fetal asphyxia."
"Dr. Allen, the other baby's heartbeat has stopped," the nurse said regretfully to Jane.
Jane was stunned for a long moment.
She glanced at Donovan.
"Mr. Blake," Jane said apologetically to Donovan.
"I want to make sure Chloe is okay!" Donovan said, his face full of frustration and gloom.
Jane checked Chloe's eyes and said, "She's in a brief state of shock. We need to perform surgery to remove the stillborn. Mr. Blake, please step out for a moment."
The newborn boy had already been placed in an incubator.
Donovan wearily walked out of the delivery room and sat on a bench in the hallway.
