Chapter 669 Accompany or Not?
Chloe was about to leave when Donovan grabbed her hand and shoved her onto the bed.
Chloe, a bit ticked off, snapped, "What the hell are you doing?"
Donovan's face was so close to hers, their breaths mingling. He looked pretty pissed.
Donovan was livid, "He's not my kid, he means nothing to me! What's wrong with using him as a shield? To protect you, to protect Francis! You two are my everything, I can't lose you!"
Hearing "my everything," Chloe's heart softened, a warm feeling surged through her chest, but it didn't change her mind. She just softened her tone a bit, "But Jake is just a kid. This is a crime, and if you end up in hell, it won't be pretty."
Donovan's finger gently traced Chloe's face, "If I go to hell, will you come with me?"
Chloe looked at him, her emotions all over the place, "Wouldn't you avoid doing things that would send you to hell?"
"I've already done them. Will you come with me or not?" Donovan kept caressing her face.
Chloe hesitated, "If..."
"Just answer if you'll come with me or not. Just answer that." Donovan's tone was urgent.
Chloe stared at him for a moment, then nodded solemnly, "I'll come with you!"
Donovan's expression softened, feeling immensely pleased, but he didn't show it; just a faint smile appeared.
"If you'll come with me, then what do I have to fear? I will use him!" Donovan said confidently, "As long as you and Francis are safe, that's all that matters."
Chloe stayed silent.
Donovan's lips landed on Chloe's cheek, and with a voice full of hormones, he whispered in her ear, "Give me another child. Francis is too lonely as an only child."
"But there's already..." Chloe started to say, Isn't there Jake?
But then she thought, Donovan never really considered Jake as his child. In his mind, Jake was probably just Francis's "knight," someone who would sacrifice himself if anything happened to Francis.
Chloe felt even more sorry for Jake. First Janet, who Donovan had put in prison, then Cynthia, who mistreated him often, and now, in Donovan's eyes, Jake held such a low position. Chloe sighed inwardly, thinking, 'In the future, I'll strive to ensure that neither Francis nor I is in danger, so Jake won't be used by Donovan. Chloe didn't want Donovan to keep using others.'
After a session of intense lovemaking, Chloe was covered in sweat and fell asleep in Donovan's arms.
Recently, the school assigned Chloe to new grad students. Her research direction at Hudson University was still trusted, and she had just applied for a national project. She was often busy in the office until very late and was extremely tired, so she didn't want to go home.
Even when Donovan came to pick her up, she preferred to stay at her place at the school.
"Not coming home?" Donovan called her one day. Chloe said she was staying at the school for the night, which made Donovan suspicious. Given his status, he was naturally very suspicious and thought Chloe was staying away because of Jake.

"So, you can't let anyone down except your man, right?" Donovan asked through gritted teeth.
