Chapter 78 Stop Seducing My Wife in the Future

Brayden's office.

Donovan didn't say a word and placed a stack of documents on the table.

Brayden took them, surprised. The contents were the complete materials about how his father Dylan, along with several other companies, framed Donovan's father over a decade ago.

The more Brayden looked at them, the more shocked he became.

"Do you know when I'm planning to submit these materials to the prosecutor's office?" Donovan calmly said, sitting across from Brayden.

Brayden's face turned pale. According to the contents of these materials, Dylan would at least be sentenced to twenty years.

"Was it the moment Chloe came to work at my firm?" Brayden asked.

Donovan had set up the audit department, and the whole Maple Valley was aware of it. Brayden had always suspected that Donovan had already known about Chloe's plan to switch jobs. Today, he directly came to the office to question Brayden, which only strengthened his suspicion.
"Very intelligent. She doesn't need me to tell her what to do," Donovan squinted his eyes and looked at Brayden.
Although Brayden liked Chloe very much, he would rather temporarily give up Chloe than have another twenty years of imprisonment like his father.
"But...weren't you in an agreement marriage with Chloe?" Brayden asked. This was Jacob's viewpoint that was passed down to him, and he firmly believed in it.
"Agreement marriage?" Donovan pulled out a cigarette and calmly lit it, "Do you think I would do that? I don't need to care about her life in an agreement marriage."
Brayden felt that Donovan made some sense.
"I understand," Brayden's mood became extremely low.
Regardless of whether it was an agreement marriage or not, they were married with a marriage certificate.
Donovan, seeing how obedient Brayden was being, stood up to leave.
When he reached the door, he paused for a moment, "Stop seducing my wife in the future!"
Brayden hadn't spoken for a long time, but as long as they had a marriage certificate, he was indeed "seducing" her.
...
This afternoon, Chloe's luck was simply terrible.
She had just returned from the cafe when she received an email from the personnel department: Thank you for submitting your resume to us, but there is still a huge gap between our requirements for auditors. We hope you continue to strive.
"A huge gap" again.
Chloe instantly felt disheartened.
It seemed that even with Donovan translating her resume, it was of no use. These emails were indeed personally reviewed by Lucas. Donovan had no authority to say anything.
Then, she received a WhatsApp message from Brayden: [Chloe, thank you for your trust in our firm and submitting your resume, but Ann the accountant said you declined, so if that's the case, we won't insist and Ann will look for a new assistant.]
In an instant, both job opportunities were gone.
Chloe was feeling extremely low, wondering if her skills were really that bad.
She had no mood to work for the rest of the afternoon.
At five o'clock, she went to the parking lot.
Donovan hadn't arrived yet, so she stood there with one foot stepping on the other, trying to ease her mood.
For the first time in her life, Chloe felt so lacking in confidence.
Chloe looked down at her feet and tears slowly fell.
Donovan walked over, and he stood there, seeing Chloe's desolate appearance.
This was the first time he had seen her like this.
He was initially angry because of her "two-timing," but seeing her pitiful appearance, his anger dissipated a bit.
Donovan unlocked the car with his remote, and Chloe snapped out of it. She quickly got into the passenger seat from the other side and wiped away her tears.
In the car, she kept using her hand to cover half of her face and looked out the window.
When they left the parking garage, Donovan asked, "What's wrong?"
"Am I really that terrible?" Chloe's voice choked, "I thought I was good, but I'm actually not good at anything."

Donovan couldn't help but smirk, "Why would you say that?"

"The HR department replied to me today, saying that I am far from meeting their requirements. Even with your endorsement, it's useless. Am I embarrassing you?" Chloe lowered her head, "Hmm?"

Donovan kept it simple. He neither said she was "embarrassing" nor said she wasn't.

However, it was obvious that Chloe didn't want to hear his response. She just wanted to vent. "I always ranked top three in elementary school, went to a prestigious middle school, and then a prestigious high school. In my sophomore year of high school, something happened at home. My father passed away and my mother was hospitalized. I had to take care of my mother while attending school. Due to my family situation, I didn't pursue a graduate degree, and I even gave the direct admission quota to someone else... But I always felt like it wasn't my fault. But today..."

Chloe fiddled with her hands as she spoke, "But today, the HR department emailed me, saying that there is a significant gap between my qualifications and their requirements, a big gap..."

Donovan glanced at Chloe as tears streamed down her face. He suddenly felt like he was being too much.

"Is it just this one thing?" he asked.

"Well..." Chloe's gaze flickered. She didn't want Donovan to know that she also applied to the South Central accounting firm, even though she was rejected. She thought it was better to not bring it up. "It's not just this one thing. There's another thing that I didn't really care about, but the rejection from New East Group's HR department really saddens me."

"You don't care?" Donovan seized her choice of words.

"Yeah," Chloe said, "Do you think I'm embarrassing you?"

"It's already embarrassing, what can we do?" Donovan said casually.
