Chapter 637 Money That Shouldn't Be There

Chloe thought back on those three years and felt a wave of intense hatred. Talking to the cops was kind of a relief, and she spilled the beans about the drama between Pamela and Paula, including how Pamela poisoned Bradley.

"We'll work with the Emerald Isle police on this investigation," the officer said.

After talking, Chloe felt completely drained.

She asked the officer, "Is Pamela locked up?"

"Yeah, she is."

"Can I see her?" Chloe asked again. Even though she knew the cops were good at catching bad guys, Pamela was so sneaky that Chloe needed to see it to believe it.

"Sure thing."

The cops set it up.

Pamela looked way different from the last time Chloe saw her. No makeup, still pretty but definitely aged. Prison life had taken a toll on her. She was in a prison uniform, hair all messy, but even looking rough, she still had that intense vibe.

Chloe knew Pamela was probably never getting out of prison.

Aurora Isle's laws might not care about Pamela poisoning Paula and Bradley, but her murder and threats against Chloe were enough to keep her behind bars.

"Chloe, shouldn't you call me Aunt Pamela?" Pamela didn't look tired from being in prison; she actually seemed pretty pumped.

Guess all psychos were like that.

"I don't have an aunt like you!" Chloe shot back.

"Doesn't matter, I'm still your aunt," Pamela leaned in a bit. "I've got the key to Marigoldia Bank. Don't you want it?"

"Just twenty billion dollars!" Chloe said.

Pamela leaned back. "Figures, you're a rich man's wife now, don't care about twenty billion. But you won't get it either. I melted the key! It's gone!"

Then she laughed like a maniac, clearly pleased with herself.

"If I can't have the money, neither can you!" Pamela said.

Chloe just sneered.

"And do you know where your dad Fred is? I had an affair with him, we were close, even had a kid together. I know him better than your mom does. Don't you want to know?"

Chloe's face twisted. Pamela knew exactly how to push her buttons.

She really wanted to know.

But she knew Pamela wouldn't spill the beans easily.

Sure enough, seeing Chloe's reaction, Pamela knew she was curious. She smiled, stood up, and walked away.

She left Chloe with a mix of defeat and arrogance.

Chloe went back and told Donovan about it, but he didn't seem to care much.

"Why don't you care?" Chloe asked.

"What does Pamela have to do with me? Why should I care? She's just trash!" Donovan said, but his tone still showed disdain.

"And the twenty billion is gone. Pamela destroyed the key on purpose," Chloe added.

"Doesn't matter," Donovan said again.

He never thought of that money as Chloe's anyway. When he married her, he didn't expect her to have extra wealth. Now that it's gone, it's gone. No big deal.

Chloe's money was never really hers to begin with.
