Chapter 86: When are they planning to have children?
The top-floor audit department had finished its renovation and Lucas had taken his position. Every day, new people came for interviews. Some had master's degrees, while others had doctorates, all having impressive educational backgrounds.
Chloe brought her German resume and went to Lucas' office.
Lucas, who was in his forties, was very easy-going and humble in attitude. He spoke English well, so there was no difficulty in communicating with Chloe.
"Miss Chloe, you can directly submit your resume to the HR department. I am new here, so I am not very familiar with the employees." Lucas said.
Mr. Lucas, I must confess that I have previously submitted my resume, but the HR department returned it to me. However, I really want to do auditing. When I was in school, I was an outstanding graduate and received scholarships every year. I passed three CPA exams and am currently working in the finance department. You can take a look at my resume," Chloe said confidently.
"Oh," Mr. Lucas murmured, as he began to look at Chloe's resume. Chloe was one of the few people who submitted a resume in German, and this left a favorable impression on Mr. Lucas.
"Miss Chloe, do you understand German?" Mr. Lucas asked Chloe.
"Oh, no, I don't," Chloe replied.
"Then your resume..." Mr. Lucas began.
"It was translated by my husband," Chloe reluctantly said, not mentioning Donovan's name, afraid of giving Mr. Lucas the wrong impression.
"You're married?"
"Yes, we recently got married."
"When do you plan to have children? I'm sorry, Miss Chloe, but this is the cultural context," Mr. Lucas gestured with his hand.
Chloe knew that women in her home country were easily asked this question during job interviews. Mr. Lucas also mentioned that it was due to cultural reasons. So Chloe didn't mind and simply said, "I probably won't have plans for children in the next five years."
Because her grandfather seemed very healthy and could easily live for another five years, she would only consider having children after getting divorced from Donovan and finding a new boyfriend. But that was a long way off, and she estimated that she wouldn't have children in the next ten years.
After thinking for a moment, Mr. Lucas said, "Okay, Miss Jiang, come for a written test on Friday. I'll keep your resume here for now."

When she came to submit her resume to Mr. Lucas, she kept it a secret from Donovan. Firstly, she didn't want to rely on his connections, and secondly, she didn't want him to interfere.
At the same time Chloe was submitting her resume to Mr. Lucas, James also filled out a transfer application form for Donovan to sign, requesting Chloe to be transferred to New East Group mall to work as a chief accountant.
Donovan wrinkled his brow as he looked at the resume. "Let her work on-site?"
"Yes, but I was afraid it would delay the two of you meeting, so I didn't want to make the decision myself," James said in a flattering manner.
"We hardly see each other at the company anyway," Donovan reclined on his chair and said.
"What?" James didn't hear clearly.
"Go and talk to her yourself. I have no objections," Donovan handed the application form back to James.
Back in the office, James handed this task to Chloe, assigning her to an one-month assignment at New East Group mall.
"But I just applied to the auditing department," Chloe said.
