Chapter 300 Chloe's Noble Birth
Today, Barbara went to the set of "The Aristocrats."
Yesterday, she took Chloe's ring from Grandma Morgan and warned her not to tell Chloe.
Grandma Morgan, who was broke and close to death, couldn't do anything about it. When Barbara put on the ring, it fit her hand perfectly.
Although the ring looked old and ordinary, once she wore it, it gave her a special charm, a kind of magical change.
Barbara had watched countless dramas and read numerous novels about the exchange of true and false heiresses, as well as stories of wealthy families abandoning their children.
Even though she didn't like to admit it, Chloe had a striking presence. Tall and elegant, she carried herself with an air of nobility.
It seemed likely that Chloe came from a noble lineage.
Now that the ring was on her hand, it was Barbara who appeared to be of noble birth.
Barbara smiled triumphantly!
She even shared this with Betty, urging her to cooperate fully.
Betty found it hard to accept the fact that her daughter was adopted, but the possibility of gaining wealth motivated her to give it a try. As for Daniel, he was insignificant and not worth her concern.
Today, Barbara wore the ring on set, even during filming.
She had no clue about Chloe's biological mother's whereabouts, but she believed that the more people saw the ring, the higher the chances of locating Chloe's affluent mother.
Thinking of Chloe and Donovan visiting her home yesterday made Barbara furious.
It seemed Chloe and Donovan were close to reconciling.
Barbara couldn't stand the idea of Chloe having a better life than her. She hoped Chloe and Paisley would clash, giving Barbara the chance to concentrate on her film "The Aristocrats" and network with directors and producers.
If Chloe's mother took her back one day, Barbara's life would get better for sure.
Yesterday, she shared a post on social media: [My cousin and her husband came over to my place and witnessed the drama. People say family scandals shouldn't be made public, sigh.]
She appeared to be expressing concern about her family's difficulties, but deep down, she was subtly hinting to Paisley that Chloe and Donovan had made amends.
Chloe had let go of Amelia's grudge!
As expected, early this morning, right after finishing work, Paisley called.
"Chloe and Donovan went to your house?” Paisley always asked in a tone that sounded questioning and authoritative,
"Yes, they were together, but it's obvious that Chloe doesn't want to be. She can't move past what happened to my aunt. Maybe Donovan is sticking around because Chloe is pregnant, but she always seems sad. I don't think they can work things out," Barbara said.
"Chloe is very unwilling?"
"Yeah, she's always distant with Donovan. My parents had a big argument, making a scene. They left right after," Barbara sighed as she finished talking.
Paisley hung up before Barbara could finish.
Barbara made it clear that she wanted Paisley to be aware of the rift between Donovan and Chloe, and that Chloe was not interested in being with Donovan.
Paisley knew she had to act fast, regardless of who she targeted. After the call, Paisley continued to think about ways to create distance between Chloe and Donovan.
At noon, she booked a table at the Velvet Spoon Bistro. A producer had arranged a meeting for her with various directors and investors.
