Chapter 325 Want to Go for a Walk?
"Where are you?" Downstairs, in Donovan's car.
He was calling Paisley.
The profound and serious tone of his voice made Paisley shiver.
"Me? I'm getting ready to shoot a commercial."
"Forget the commercial. I've canceled it for you. Also, New East Group will no longer support any of your comeback activities. I'll have the PR department retract all the previous releases."
"Donovan?" Paisley thought to herself, 'Chloe really knows how to manipulate people. What did she say to Donovan?'
'And, did she already lose the baby? Otherwise, why would Donovan be so angry?'
Paisley never imagined that Chloe held such a significant place in Donovan's heart.
"What lies did you tell her?" Donovan questioned Paisley.
"I was just telling the truth."
"The truth? The truth is you sent the package? You think you have the brains for that?" Donovan retorted bluntly.
"I..." Being mocked as "stupid" by Donovan made Paisley feel a bit ashamed. "We used to..."
"Let the past stay in the past. If you dare bring it up again, your fate will be much worse than being betrayed by Barbara." With that, Donovan hung up the phone.
When Paisley tried to call Donovan back, his phone was constantly busy.
He was on the phone with Evans from the PR department, instructing her to retract all the articles within five minutes and notify all partner media to pull any materials related to Paisley. She was no longer their concern.
He initially planned to use Paisley as a target for Barbara, but now it seemed unnecessary.
On the other side, after taking her medication, Chloe felt much calmer.
She sat quietly in the living room, reading a book.
Before long, Sofia's WhatsApp message came through: [Chloe, how did you manage to sway Mr. Blake? Mr. Blake has canceled Paisley's comeback plan, retracted all the previous articles, and pulled all related media pieces. All future activities have been canceled, too. At this rate, Paisley will soon disappear from the public eye.]
Chloe thought, 'Did he do it for her?'
A warm feeling arose in her heart.
Her resentment towards Donovan also lessened significantly.
In the evening, Maya said, "Mr. Blake, my son has exams coming up, and the school is holding a motivational meeting for parents. My child's father is very busy, and my son insists I go. So, Mr. Blake, I'd like to request three days off. Is that okay?"
"Sure," Donovan replied.
"If I leave, who will take care of Mrs. Blake? She can't be left alone right now," Maya glanced at Chloe.
"I'm fine, I can handle this on my own..." Chloe hadn't finished her sentence when Donovan interrupted, "I'll take care of her."
"Alright, with Mr. Blake at home, I feel reassured," Maya said.
"Aren't you going to work?" Chloe asked him.
"I don't have to."
Chloe couldn't help but think back to the holidays when he took care of her, even though their relationship wasn't good at the time.
Now, Chloe still harbored some resentment towards him because of Walter.
Maya left early the next morning. Before leaving, she prepared breakfast for both Donovan and Chloe.
When Chloe got up, she saw Donovan vacuuming the floor, making quite a bit of noise.
His phone rang, and he turned off the vacuum to answer it.
"Her? Send her out of town. Find her a small commercial, but not in Maple Valley," Donovan said.
Chloe sipped her porridge while listening to him talk, not quite understanding what he was saying, but if it was about filming, it was probably about Paisley.
After Chloe finished eating, Donovan also finished cleaning.
"Want to go for a walk?" he asked Chloe.
"Sure!" Chloe's eyes lit up.
Susan usually drove her, but only when she had something important to do. For something like "going for a walk," Chloe considered it unproductive, so she never asked Susan for such a favor.
She got into Donovan's car.
